OF LEARNING MODULES IN ALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS OF THE DIVISION ae 01 OCT 2020 Pursuant to the provisions of DepEd Order 18, s. 2020 known as Policy Guidelines for the Provision of Leaming Resources in the Implementation of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP), attached is the Regional Memorandum dated August 20, 2020 on the prescribed Utilization of the Self-Learning Modules for SY 2020-2021, contents of which are self-explanatory. ‘Widest dissemination of this Memorandum is hereby enjoined. REL E ASED Sana BEF 3939—390KM Elpidio Quirino Ave., Davao City 224-3274/224-0100/221-3811/227-4726/221-0059 222-1672/221-8587/222-0854/225-3600 www.deped-davaocity.ph Republic of the Philippines Department of Education DAVAO REGION MEMORANDUM To Subject Date Schools Division Superintendents Chiefs, Curriculum Implementation Division Chiefs, Regional Office Divisions School Heads, Public Elementary and Secondary Schools UTILIZATION OF THE SELF-LEARNING MODULES FOR SY 2020-2021 August 20, 2020 Relative to the provision of learning resources in the implementation of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP), this Office advises the Schools Division Offices (SDOs) and schools on the following emerging concems on the utilization of the Self- ‘Learning Modules (SLMs) for SY 2020-2021 Learners from Grades 3 — 12 shall use a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises as the said SLMs are treated unconsumable. Such instruction is provided in item 1 under the introductory message to the users of the SLMs such as “Use the module with care. Do not put unnecessary mark/s on any part of the module. Use a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises.” Learners from Kindergarten to Grade 2 can write directly their answers of the exercises in the SLMs as it takes time to write the same (including letters, words, sentences and drawings) and considering that leamers in these levels may have differing rate of maturity and experiences in terms of grasps and fine motors development. ‘The “Answer Key” or “Susi sa Pagwawasto” of the module must be reproduced and attached as part of the SLMs. Purposely, such part is provided in item 4 under the introductory message to the users of the SLMs such as “Observe honesty and integrity in doing the tasks and checking your answers.” ‘Teachers together with their school head and curriculum/grade level/department heads may carefully plan a parallel assessment to track and validate learners’ Jeaming per module. i) a ae 2 ena r= 22 Republic of the Philippines Department of Education DAVAO REGION Office of the Regional Director 4. All personnel must exercise minimum safety and health protocols in handling, packaging, distribution, and retrieval of the SLMs. Immediate and wide dissemination of this Memorandum is desired. This has reference to DepEd Order No. 18, s. 2020 or the Policy Guidelines for the Provision of Learning Resources in the Implementation of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan, contents of which are self-explanatory. 2. Relevant to this, all elementary and secondary public schools are enjoined to observe the following guidelines on the use of printed learning resources from Kindergarten Level to Senos High School Level, to wit: 2.1, Learners utilizing Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) are allowed to write their responses or answers on the printed material. These materials shall be retumed to the school for marking/ checking on the dates specified by the school in accordance with their Learning Continuity Plan. 2.2. Learners utilizing Self-Learning Modules are allowed to write their responses or answers on the Activity and Assessment parts of the material only. They shall not be allowed to write anything on the other parts/ sections that do not require their response or answers. These materials shall be retumed to the school for marking/ checking on the dates specified by the school in accordance with their Learning Continuity Plan. The learner’s name, grade level, section, and class adviser shall be written on the cover page for easy identification during retrieval, 2.3. Schools are enjoined to establish safekeeping measures once the teachers have marked/ checked the Self-Learning Modules. 3. For guidance, wide dissemination and compliance. 'M.
