01. Pedagogy :
Pedagogy refers to the “interactions between teachers, students, and the learning environment and the learning
tasks.” Meaning is to say, how teachers and students relate together as well as the instructional approaches
implemented in the classroom.
Pedagogy is the study of teaching methods, including the aims of education and the ways in which such goals
may be achieved. The field relies heavily on educational psychology, which encompassesscientific theories
of learning, and to some extent on the philosophy of education, which considers the aims and value of education
from a philosophical perspective.
Pedagogy refers more broadly to the theory and practice of education, and how this influences the growth of
learners.
There are many different ways a person can learn something. Some learning methods work better than others.
The bottom line is, you can learn anything you want, which means the possibilities are endless. There is no greater
source of human powerthan the power of learning. The worlds combined knowledge is waiting for you, so
don't hesitate, for he who hesitates is lost. Everyone suffers from their own ignorance. And the only cure for
ignorance is knowledge. Don't take learning for granted. Everything that you have in life, and everything that you
are, comes from learning. The valuethat comes from educating yourself is immense. Learning is an investment in
yourself. And when you educate yourself to a high degree, you will naturally want to share your wealth of
knowledge with as many people as possible. This way future generations will also benefit from knowledge and
information in the same way that you did, or maybe even better.
The Learning Pyramid, researched and created by the National training Laboratories in Betel, Maine, illustrates the
percentage of learner recall that is associated with various approaches. The Learning Pyramid model suggests
that some methods of study are more effective than others and that varying study methods will lead to deeper
learning and longer-term retention.
The first four levels (lecture, reading, audio visual and demonstration) are passive learning methods. In contrast, the
bottom three levels (discussion group, practice by doing and teach others are participatory (active) learning
methods.
Just remember that the key here is to vary your method of learning. Don't assume just because the Learning
Pyramid suggests that Lectures are the least effective study method for retaining information, that lectures aren't
important. Lectures are still very important. Each of the learning methods presented in the Learning Pyramid are
important. Even if it's difficult for you to remember everything that is taught during lectures, the notes you take during
lecture may be vital to your ability to participate in a discussion of the material later on in your group, or teach the
material to others. Vary your study method, focus on the methods and learning styles that yields the best
results for you.
