Introduction
This lab is prepared to demonstrate basic standard sales order picking process in Warehouse Management (WMS)
enabled organization. It has been developed to assist an application support analyst by:

» Introducing navigation through the Oracle Warehouse Management (WMS) forms


» Listing steps to create a sales order and perform pick release in Oracle Order Management and perform the pick and
drop task transactions in Oracle Warehouse Management (WMS)
» The labs will only show the demonstration of the processes. For definitions please refer the Oracle Warehouse
management User’s guide

Perquisites
Analyst should have a basic understanding of the below modules so that the labs can be well followed.

» Oracle Inventory

» System Administrator

Prerequisites
In this section we will show the list of prerequisite steps that need to be completed before you can perform sales order
picking in WMS.

Item related Setup

1. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

2. Navigate : Setup > Material Setup > Master Item

3. Create Plain Item CJ100 and assign it to Org XW1

Receive Onhand for Item


In this section, we will receive Onhand quantity for the Item using a Miscellaneous Receipt Transaction.

1. Login to the Mobile GUI application and choose responsibility = Whse Mgmt

2. Navigate : Warehousing > Inventory > Receipt > Misc Receipt

3. Enter the following details

 Select an account from the LOV

 Item = CJ100

 Subinventory =XXBULK,

 Locator = XXBK.1.1

 Qty = 10

4. Press Done.

WMS Rules Setup


For this Lab, we are using the Seeded Pick and Putaway rules. Verify if they are setup and enabled.

1. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

2. Navigate : Setup > Warehouse Configuration > Rules > Warehouse Execution > Rules

3. Query ‘Default Pick Rule’ and verify exists and enabled.

WMS Rule Assignments Setup
In this section, we will setup Pick and Putaway rule assignments using Rules workbench form

1. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

2. Navigate : Setup > Warehouse Configuration > Rules > Warehouse Execution > Rules Workbench

3. Enter the following details to setup a Rule assignment for Pick

 Select ‘Pick’ as Type

 Key in appropriate value for Sequence , For this demo, we use Seq = 50

 Return Type = < select ‘Strategy’ or ‘Rule’). For this demo, we use ‘Rule’

 Return value = <Enter the strategy Name or Rule Name > For this demo, we use Rule = ‘Seeded
Default pick rule’

 Select ‘Sales Order Pick’ as Transaction Type

 Press Enabled check box

 Press Save Icon or use (Ctrl+S) to save the changes

4. Enter the following details to setup a Rule assignment for Putaway

 Select ‘Putaway’ as Type

 Key in appropriate value for Sequence , For this demo, we use Seq = 60

 Return Type = < select ‘Strategy’ or ‘Rule’ For this demo, we use Rule = ‘Seeded Default putaway rule’

 Select ‘Sales Order Pick’ as Transaction Type

 Press Enabled Check box

 Press Save Icon or use (Ctrl+S) to save the changes

Note: For this Demo, we are only having the one sequence enabled

Organization Parameters Setup


In this section, we will verify the default rule setup in In the Organization Parameters form

1. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

2. Navigate : Setup > Warehouse Configuration > Warehouses > Warehouse Parameters

3. Verify ‘Seeded default Pick rule’ has been setup under Picking Defaults section in ‘ATP, Pick, Item-sourcing’ tab

4. Verify ‘Default Put Away Rule’ has been setup under Warehouse tab

Operation Resource Setup


In this section we will verify if an Operation resource is setup and an employee is assigned to the

1. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

2. Navigate : Setup -> Warehouse Configuration -> Resources -> Resources

3. Query Resource = ‘XXPICKER which is used in this demo

4. Press Employee button


5. Verify an Employee has been assigned to Operation Resource

Note: The employee setup here is the User who will be logging into the Mobile GUI Application later and to perform Pick Load Activity

Standard Task Type Setup


In this section, we will verify if a Standard Task type is setup for Task Type = Pick

1. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

2. Navigate : Setup > Warehouse Configuration > Tasks > Standard Task Type

3. Query Task Type = Pick. For this Demo, we use ‘XPIC’

Note: To setup new Task Type, refer to the Lab “Standard Task Type Setup”

Resource Assignment Setup


In this section, we will verify if Operation resources are assigned to the Standard Task Types

1. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

2. Navigate : Setup > Warehouse Configuration > Tasks > Standard Task Type

3. Query up Code = XPIC

4. Press Operation Resources Button.

5. Verify XXPICKER is setup as Resource

Create Sales Order


In this section, we will how to create a new sales order. We will be using Customer = Computer services and Rental and
create the sales order for the Item CJ100 and book it.

To create the sales order, perform the following

6. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Manufacturing and Distribution Manager

7. Navigate : Order Management > Orders, Returns > Sales Orders

8. Select the organization as XX-WMSOrganization1 (XW1)

9. Enter the below data under the Main Tab:

 Customer Number = 1006 , press <tab>

 Price List = Corporate

10. Press Others Tab and enter the below data:

 Warehouse = XW1

11. Then press Lines Tab and enter the following for Line 1.1
 Order Item = CJ100
 Qty = 10
 UOM = Ea
 Scheduled Ship Date = Today’s date
12. Under Shipping Tab, verify Warehouse is XW1

13. Press ‘Book Order’ and book the order

Note down the Order Number = 69368

Perform Pick Release of Sales Order


In this section we will show how to perform Pick release of the booked order in a WMS Enabled org.

1. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

2. Navigate : Outbound Logistics > Release Pick Waves

3. Under Order Tab, enter the below details


 Select ‘Unreleased’ as Orders

 Select ‘69368’ as Order Number

4. Clear the Scheduled Ship and Requested dates

5. Under the Inventory tab, enter the following data

 Warehouse = XW1

 Auto Allocate =Yes

 Plan Tasks = No

 Default Stage Subinventory = XX Staging

6. Press Concurrent to submit your request. Note the Request ID

7. Go to (M) View > Requests and verify that concurrent request completed successfully.

Review Sales Order after Pick Release

Using Shipping Transactions form


In this section we will review the sales order delivery details using the Shipping transactions form

1. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

2. (N) Navigate : Outbound Logistics > Shipment Planning & Transactions

3. In Query Manager form, Enter From Order number = 69368 and tab out

4. Press Find button

Notice the Delivery Detail line status shows as ‘Released to Warehouse’

Using Sales Order Analyzer


In this section we will review the sales order delivery details using the Sales Order Analyzer script output
1. Run the sales order Analyzer from DOC ID 2038363.1 for the SO 69368 and review the Output

2. Under Shipping Section, Notice the Delivery Details Line status

Review Task Details after Pick release


In this section we will review the Task Details using the Warehouse Control Board transactions form

Using Warehouse Control Board

1. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

2. (N) Navigate : Inquiry > Warehouse Control Board

3. Under Task Tab, enter the below details


 Check ‘Outbound’ checkbox under Source

 Check ‘Pending’ checkbox under Status.

4. Under Outbound Tab, enter the below details


 Order = 69368% and tab out

5. Press Find button

6. The Warehouse Control board display the Task for the sales order.

Notice the Task Status = ‘Pending’ and Source Header = 69355 (Order Number)

Notice the Source Subinventory suggested on the Task is ‘XX BULK’.

Notice the system assigned User Task Type as ‘XPIC’. This is assignment is based on the Task Type assignment Rule
‘XX BULK TASK’ that has been setup

Assign Task to Employee Using WMS Control Board
In this section we will cover how to assign the Task that was created for the Sales Order, after pick release, to an
employee resource.

To assign the Task to an employee, perform the following


7. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

8. (N) Navigate : Inquiry > Warehouse Control Board

9. Under Task Tab, enter the below details


 Check ‘Outbound’ checkbox under Source

 Check ‘Pending’ checkbox under Status.

10. Under Outbound Tab, enter the below details


 Order = ‘nnnnn%’ (i.e. 69368%) and tab out

11. Press Find button

12. The Warehouse Control board display the Task for the sales order.

Notice the Task Status = ‘Pending’ and Source Header = 69355 (Order Number)

13. Select the task which is in ‘Pending’ Status

14. (B) Press ‘Manage’ button.

15. In Manage Task form , enter the below details to queue (assign) the task to an employee
 Select ‘Queued’ under Status

 Optionally enter Priority

 Select the Employee Name

16. Press Execute Now.

17. Press Save Icon or use (Ctrl+S) to save the changes to the task.

Pick Task Completion Using Mobile Telnet Application


In the few sections, we will show how to use the Oracle Mobile Application to complete the Task that is assigned to an
employee (User). The Task completion in the Mobile involves performing two activities. They are Pick Load and Pick
Drop.

During Pick Load activity, as instructed by the task, the user will pick a particular quantity of Item from a Subinventory
and locator, suggested by the task and load it into LPN (Xfer LPN) which logically represents a container (BOX).

During Pick Drop activity, the user will drop the LPN (Xfer LPN), which was loaded earlier during Load activity, to the
Staging Lane as instructed by the system based on Putaway rules or to the default Stage Subinventory/locator specified
during pick release. .

Perform Pick Load activity


In this section, we will show how users perform pick load activity using the Oracle Mobile telnet Application

1. Open Mobile GUI Application. Select ‘Default’ from Device list

2. Type in the User credentials and press Enter Key to Login. Choose responsibility = Whse Mgmt

Note: Login as the Employee to whom the Task is assigned (“Queued” ) via the Warehouse Control board.

3. (N) Navigate to Tasks > Directed Tasks > Outbound > Order Picking

4. Select the organization as ‘XW1’ from list of organizations in Select organization page

5. Press <Enter> key in the following fields – Equip , From Sub and Device

6. (B) Press Done button.

7. When the Load page opens, you will notice that there exist a ‘Confirm’ Field under some of the fields.
Confirm the in the required fields and enter the following data:

 Sub = Defaults

 Confirm = Key in the Subinventory (Sub). Press <Enter> Key

 LOC = Defaults

 Loc/LPN = Key in Locator (Loc). Press <Enter> Key

 LPN = Press <Enter>

 Item = Defaults

 Confirm = Key in Item. Press <Enter> Key

 UOM = Defaults

 Req Qty = Defaults

 Confirm = Key in Quantity. Press <Enter> Key

 Xfer LPN = Press <Ctrl + G> to generate a new LPN. Press <Enter> Key

8. (B) Press Load Button

This completes the Pick load activity. The Task will now be in loaded status and the LPN is LPN218XX

Review Task details after Pick Load


Once Pick Load activity is completed, query the Pick Task on the Warehouse Control board

Using Warehouse Control Board

1. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

2. (N) Navigate: Inquiry > Warehouse Control Board.


3. Under Task Tab, enter the below details

a. Check ‘Outbound’ checkbox under Source

b. Check all the Statuses checkbox

4. Under Outbound Tab, enter the below details


 Order = 69368% and tab out

5. Press Find button.

6. Notice the Task is now in Loaded Status. Also Notice the column Loaded LPN which shows the LPN entered

during Pick Load activity

Review Sales Order details after Pick Load

There will be no changes in the Delivery Detail lines after Pick Load is completed.

Review LPN details after Pick Load


Once Pick Load activity is completed, perform the following to check the data related to the Loaded LPN

Using Mobile LPN Inquiry

1. Login to Mobile GUI Application

2. (N) Navigate: Inquiry > LPN

3. Under LPN Inquiry Page , select ‘LPN218XX’ as LPN

4. (B) Press Find LPN

5. Notice the State = Packing Context for the LPN. The LPN Contents displays the Item and quantity details of

the Loaded LPN.

Using LPN Diagnostics

1. Run LPN Diagnostics from Doc ID 1913250.1 for Loaded LPN LPN218XX’ and review the Output.

2. Notice Table MTL_MATERIAL_TRANSACTIONS_TEMP shows the Task in Loaded status. Notice the

column WMS_TASK_STATUS = 4 ( Loaded) and TRANSFER_LPN_ID is the LPN_ID of the Loaded LPN

3. Notice Table WMS_LICENSE_PLATE_NUMBERS shows the LPN related info. Notice the column
LPN_CONTEXT = 8 (Packing Context) in Loaded status. Notice the column WMS_TASK_STATUS = 4 (

Loaded) and TRANSFER_LPN_ID is the LPN_ID of the Loaded LPN

Perform Pick Drop Activity


In this section, we will show users how to perform Pick Drop activity using the Oracle Mobile telnet Application

1. Open Mobile GUI Application. Select ‘Default’ from Device list

2. Type in the User credentials and press Enter Key to Login. Choose responsibility = Whse Mgmt

3. (N) Navigate: Tasks > Directed Tasks > Directed Move > Drop Loaded LPNs

4. Now the Drop LPN page shows up.

5. In the Current Task field, enter %<tab> or press the Flashlight to display the list of tasks that are in Loaded

Status. Press scroll bar at the bottom to view more details about the task.

6. Select the Task with appropriate task with LPN entered as ‘Xfer LPN’ in the Pick load activity. In this case,

the LPN = LPN281XX ( Loaded LPN)

7. (B) Press Drop button

8. In the Drop Page, Enter the following data and press <Enter > Key:

 From LPN = Defaults

 To Sub = Defaults

 Confirm = Confirm To Sub. Press <Enter> Key

 To Loc = Defaults

 Confirm = Confirm To Loc . Press <Enter> Key

9. Press Done button to complete the Pick Drop Activity

Once Pick Load activity is completed, query the Pick Task on the Warehouse Control board

Using Warehouse Control Board

1. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

2. (N) Navigate: Inquiry > Warehouse Control Board.

3. Under Task Tab, enter the below details

a. Check ‘Outbound’ checkbox under Source


b. Check all the Statuses checkbox

4. Under Outbound Tab, enter the below details

 Order = 69368% and tab out

5. Press Find button.

6. Notice the Task is now in Completed Status. Also Notice the column Drop LPN which shows the LPN

entered during Pick Drop activity

Review LPN details after Pick Load
Once Pick drop activity is completed, perform the following to check the data related to the LPN

Using Mobile LPN Inquiry

1. Login to Mobile GUI Application

2. (N) Navigate: Inquiry > LPN

3. Under LPN Inquiry Page , select ‘LPN218XX’ as LPN

4. (B) Press Find LPN

5. Notice the State = Packing Context for the LPN. The LPN Contents displays the Item and quantity details

of the Loaded LPN.

Using LPN Diagnostics

1. Run LPN Diagnostics from Doc ID 1913250.1 for the Loaded LPN LPN218XX’ and review output.

2. Notice Table MTL_ONHAND_QUANTITIES_DETAIL shows Onhand in the LPN and moved to Staging

Subinventory

6. Notice Table WMS_LICENSE_PLATE_NUMBERS shows the LPN related info. Notice the column
LPN_CONTEXT = 11 (Picked). Table WMS_LPN_CONTENTS shows Item and quantity details which

matches the Onhand table

Once Pick drop activity is completed, perform the following to check the sales Order data

Using Shipping Transactions form

1. Login to the application and choose responsibility = Warehouse Manager

2. (N) Navigate : Outbound Logistics > Shipment Planning & Transactions

3. In Query Manager form, select ‘Line and LPNs’ under Search for

4. Enter From Order number = 69368 and tab out

5. Press Find button

Notice the Delivery Detail line status shows as ‘Staged/Pick Confirm’. It also shows the LPN in Picked status.

Using Sales Order Analyzer


1. Run the sales order Analyzer from DOC ID 2038363.1 for the SO 69368 and review the Output

2. Under Shipping Section, see Table WSH_DELIVERY_DETAILS shows Line is Staged

3. Deliver Details Containers Section shows the LPN associated with the Staged Delivery Detail
