Educational Philosophy

An educational philosophy is the vision of the sole principle of education as a learning

procedure and its task in society. According to Cooper, the grand purpose of education in our

community is to act as a pivot in which change evolves, creating individual advancement, and

relatively equal society (Cooper, 2010). Attaining success from a learning environment solely

depends on the relationship between the learner and the educator. When these two work in hand,

learning becomes an enjoyable process.

I am a student who believes that every other student is well able to learn irrespective of

family backgrounds and mental setups. A student should never be viewed as an empty vessel

waiting to be fed information from an educator. Learning is a gradual process that involves

effort from both the student and the teacher. Apart from personal aggression, a more significant

percentage of a student's performance is attributed to the teacher's techniques of using the

classroom as a learning field.

My philosophy has been influenced by Hickman, who says that the teacher's role in

education is to utilize the classroom as a field for presentation and instruction to enable them to

learn and apply the concepts in various subjects (Hickman & Spadafora, 2009). According to

Hickman, a teacher's principal objective is to assist students in defining themselves and finding

out in what way they can help serve the community (Hickman & Spadafora, 2009). Teachers

owe passion to their learners. They should love the subjects they teach and dedicate themselves

towards the success of their students. They should make learning enjoyable and encourage

students towards discovering their love for learning. Teachers should also create a systematized

classroom. It ensures their expectations are clarified and grading systems are well balanced and

most importantly associate with the best teaching techniques and strategies.
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY 3

Hickman says that the best learning environments for students initiate the best results

from them. Students grasp best in a warm, supportive environment where they feel that the

teacher is mindful about them and their success (Hickman & Spadafora, 2009). It should be free

from any distraction from the nearby environment that may result from factory noise or sounds

from passing vehicles in nearby road networks. Learners originate from a variety of demographic

and socioeconomic backgrounds and can significantly vary in learning styles and cognitive

ability. Therefore, it is the teacher's duty in such kind of an environment to associate with

methods that consider all the various backgrounds and expertise of learning of the students.

A teacher should be versatile. He/she should be alert for the latest education research and

materials and blend best-practice methods into his primary means of teaching and strategies.

These best-practice methods possess high-levels of vastly agreed effectiveness. According to

Noddings, 40% of students fail because of a lack of adequate research on learning from the

teaching profession (Noddings, 2018). The world is vastly growing digital, and this shows how

fast technology should be embraced in learning to create a competent generation.

Goals are key. A good teacher should always have goals for his/her students. He/she

should have identified the individual needs of students in the learning procedure and put in

measures that can cater to all towards generating success without failure. Noddings says to be a

good teacher, and you should picture yourself to be the most miserable student and find out what

measures you can use to help yourself out (Noddings, 2018). I think all teachers should

implement this assumption technique in their teaching styles to be able to listen out to every

voice in their classroom.

After doing my philosophy survey, I have come to many realizations. These results have

opened a vast drift of my perspective on education. Education should not be purely for academic

purposes. Educators should also enlighten students on how to solve problems socially and equip

them with communication skills that help them to work efficiently with others (Cooper, 2010).

Function ability of students should be vivid in the real world, which does need not only academic

knowledge but also social skills.

Not all students can learn in the same way. There are three types of learners including

visual learners; who learn mostly by the use of sight, auditory learners; who use the hearing

ability to grasp and kinesthetic learners who involve themselves in practical activities as a

learning procedure (Cooper, 2010). It incorporates that teachers should adopt various teaching

techniques to accommodate all kinds of students. It creates a surprisingly exciting and livelier

learning environment that will eventually help all students to succeed.

In conclusion, the educating role is not prone to teachers only. Family members such as

parents and the community at large should join hands with teachers to enrich learning skills. If

the society leaves the teaching mantle barely on the teaching profession, learners would not be

able to access fundamental outside class skills. Second and third parties must, therefore, be

involved since they make a more balanced society of learned people with versatile expertise.
