MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM VALUE

MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM VALUE
OPTIMIZATION
One of the most important applications of the derivative is in
determining instances when a mathematical model of a natural
phenomenon (or any other situation that requires such) yields a maximum
or minimum. Such process is popularly called optimization.
Steps:
1. Understand the Problem
2. Draw a Diagram
3. Introduce Notation
4. Express the objective function f in terms of one variable.
5. Find the absolute maximum or minimum value of f using derivative.
