Concerned about the opportunities for members of the LATIA Export Development cluster to export,
LATIA and other business organizations emphasized in their appeals to the authorities that it is very
important to ensure post-quarantine financing of jobs. As long as the emergency persists, it is still
possible to declare downtime for employees and receive subsidies for their wages, and with employees
working to apply for subsidies for a period of 6 months. Read more: https://bit.ly/3gKAN8S #latia

"The COVID-19 pandemic relentlessly hit the competitiveness of the European clothing and textile
industry and Lithuanian manufacturers. With this in mind, in the short term, companies need to be given
urgent support to survive for the next 6 months. LATIA welcomes the Government's post-quarantine
assistance measures, in particular subsidies for up to 6 months. In order to maintain sustainable jobs, the
share of support provided could be higher, especially in the fifth and sixth months. In addition, the
amounts of export guarantees are insufficient, and there is too little support for companies that have
more than 250 employees,” Kęstutis Daukšys, President of LATIA says. Read more:

decline is even greater. It is gratifying that new technologies are emerging and sustainable and smart
textiles are becoming increasingly popular. It is to such textiles that we, as manufacturers, will need to
adapt and adapt our production processes over time. Read more: https://bit.ly/2PT0f08

More than 80 billion garments are produced annually, worldwide. Once in landfills, natural fibers can
take hundreds of years to decompose. In reality many people throw away the clothing after less than 10
wears. The main reason they get rid of clothes is because the garment lost its shape, faded or started to
look old.
Follow our tips to make your clothes last longer:
use a stain removal pen or a wipe as quickly as possible;
inspect, treat, and reinspect stains before washing;
read garmet care labels and follow washing/cleaning rules;
sort laundry;
use eco-laundry powders and detergents.

Worldwide fashion is putting the future of our planet at risk. We urge you to chose the fabrics which are
better for the environment.
Recycled fabrics - there is already many companies that use recycled wool, cotton and synthetic
fabrics for clothing.
Man-made cellulose fibres are those obtained from plant-based materials. This material can be
directly extracted from plants, such as cotton, or treated chemically to extract and process cellulose. If
produced without using or retaining any substances of concern, cellulose-based fibres can be safely
biodegraded.
Bast fibres are those which are sourced from plants with a stem consisting of a woody core and
fibrous bark, such as hemp, flax, nettle, jute and rame.
What else we can do?
Wear more, waste less
Quick and cool washes
Care for your clothes
Recycle
Stop shopping
