“TODAY’S CRISIS IN OUR COUNTRY”

Coronavirus Pandemic does not only affect the health of the Filipinos but also the moral and
sentiments of the citizens. We could reflect that some of the pandemic solutions by the government, (i.e.
Community Quarantine), caused discrimination on the life of the Filipinos than of the disease
inflammatory risk.

From what I have perceive, during the community quarantine, the gap between the mass sphere (poor)
and the civic sphere (rich and middle class) inflate which caused discrimination and inequality from
varied factors such as the law enforcement and even in the education of the students.

It is impliedly stated in our constitution that no one is above the law, yet during this pandemic period, we
could sense the inequality and discriminatory on the implementation and enforcement of the laws. There
are some citizens who do not follow the quarantine protocols, abuse of authorities and clientelistic
approach on the distribution of the benefits; those were only few manifestations of misbehaviour of the
citizens in able to cope up with the change of lifestyle caused by the community quarantine, although the
coping mechanism were unjustly.

Furthermore, the government tried to ease the effect of this pandemic to the education sector by shifting
from face-to-face classroom approach to “21st Century approach” or online classes. However, it is
noticeable that inequality and discrimination can also be seen on the education of the students. That
student who has a financially stable family has a higher chances of learning. In a third-world country,
wherein internet connection cost too much than a regular meal, it is impossible for the students of the
impoverished class to join the 21st Century approach over their primary necessities i.e. food, shelter and
health.

Nonetheless, more than the law enforcement nor the education system of the Philippines, what affects me
more were the greediness exhibitions of some. While the whole world were suffering from this disease,
the very own originating country of disease were too busy reclaiming our own piece of land rather than
helping those who were affected by their transmissible disease. While Philippines focused on the Health
of its citizens, yet the China took it as opportunity to expropriate the disputed West Philippines Sea.

This pandemic situation made me realize that, this disease does not only affect our health but also the life
and moral of the Filipinos particularly the underprivileged and underrepresented who has not enough
power to suppressed the oppression of caused by the inequality and discrimination.

We are all Strive to this pandemic and we have lot of things in our lives that we cannot do specially to all
workers and students. I was proud to all front liners out there that sacrifice their lives for keeping and
serving to our country, and I know someday that we are all surviving to this pandemic.

Lot of people in our country now was striving mentally, emotionally and physically. First, thing is they
don’t have enough money to buy a food for their family. Second they don’t have work that can pay to
them. Third this disease was bringing us mentally and emotionally that sometimes can lead us to not good
ideas. One this is the panic buying and hoarding and it is not good, especially to those people that cannot
afford to buy things like alcohol, mask etc. due to the high demand of the item the supply of the products
in markets was lacking supply, that’s why the price it was higher and cannot afford of some people.
