NARRATIVE REPORT

Occural Visit/ Community Survey at

Baranggay 402 Zone 41, Sampaloc Manila

Our greatness as a nation has depended on individual initiative, on a belief in the free market.
But it has also depended on our sense of mutual regard for each other. The idea that our
NSTP prof and CWTS students has stake in the community, that were all in it together and
everybody’s got a shot at opportunity. We know that government cant solve all of our
problems- and we dont want it to. But we also know that there are some things that we cant
do on our own. We know that there are some things we do better together. We are not
satisfied to make ourself comfortable knowing that there are thousands of my fellow men who
suffer for the barest necessities of life. We were taught under the old ethc that man’s business
on this earth was to look out for himself,. Take care of yourself, no matter what may become
of your fellow men. What would you think me if I were capable of seating myself at a table and
gorging myself with food and saw about me the children of my fellow beings starving to death.

We started our community service in Baranggay 402 Zone 41, Sampaloc Manila . It was a
long walk but it is enjoyable. When we were in there, we started interviewing the citizens
about their lives, about what kind of community are their living in. I noticed that they are poor
in education, i noticed that they are lack of water supplies, I notice that most children are not
nutritious, and I also noticed that their surroundings is not clean. In our interview, I felt sad
when i heard the different problems that the community are facing, I want to help them
specially those children who need nutritious food by conducting a feeding program every
weekend because i want to make them happy even its only a small program but i have no
enough money to do that plan because I am a student yet. But someday I hope i can do this.
Somewhere, a circle of hands will open to receive us, eyes will light up as we enter, voices
will celebrate with us whenever we come into our own power. Community means strength that
joins our strength to do the work that needs to be done. Arms to hold us when we falter. A
circle of healing. A circle of friends. Some place where we can be free.
