ΚΥΡΙΑΚΗ ΠΡΟ ΤΗΣ ΧΡΙΣΤΟΥ ΓΕΝΝΗΣΕΩΣ ( Ἑβρ. 11, 9-10, 32-40) 20 Δεκεμβρ. 2020
Ἡ Ἐκκλησία μας ἀγαπητοί ἀδελφοί, ὥρισε νά ἀναφέρωνται τά ὀνόματα ὅλων αὐτῶν
πού ὁ καθένας μέ τήν δική ζωή, ὑπῆρξε κατά σάρκα πρόγονος τοῦ Σωτῆρος
Χριστοῦ. Κατά γενναιολογία, ἀπό Ἀδάμ, μέχρι καί Ἰωσήφ τοῦ Μνήστορος,
ἀποτέλεσαν τήν ἀνθρώπινη ἁλυσίδα, ἐκ τῆς ὁποίας φέρει στόν τελευταῖο κρίκο της
τήν Παναγία, ἐκ τῆς ὁποίας ἦλθε ὁ Σωτῆρας τοῦ κόσμου Χριστός. Μεταξύ αὐτῶν,
ἀναφέρονται τά ὀνόματα τῶν μεγάλων Πατριαρχῶν, Ἀβραάμ, Ἰσαάκ, Ἰακώβ, τούς
περίφημους Κριτές τοῦ Ἰσραήλ Γεδεών, Βαράκ καί Ἰεφθάε, καθώς ἐπίσης καί τούς
ἔνδοξους βασιλεῖς Δαβίδ καί Σολομῶντα καί τούς Προφῆτες. Παράλληλα ἐξάρει τά
θαυμαστά κατορθώματα τῶν ἀνθρώπων πού πίστευαν στόν Θεό καί διά τῆς
μεγάλης αὐτῆς πίστεώς τους, κατόρθωσαν τά ἀνθρωπίνως ἀκατόρθωτα. Ἁπλοϊκοί
ἄνθρωποι, κατενίκησαν ἐχθρικά βασίλεια. Ἐκυβέρνησαν τόν λαό μέ δικαιοσύνη.
Ἐφίμωσαν στόματα λεόντων. Ἔσβησαν τήν δύναμη τῆς φωτιᾶς. Διέφυγαν τήν
σφαγή. Ἐπῆραν δύναμη στίς ἀσθένειές τους καί θεραπεύτηκαν. Ἀπεδείχθησαν
δυνατοί πολεμιστές καί ἔτρεψαν εἰς φυγήν τούς ἐχθρούς τους. Ἀκόμη εἶδαν καί
νεκραναστάσεις. Ἀπό τά ὅσα ἀναφέραμε μέχρι ἐδῶ, ὁ Ἀπόστολος Παῦλος δείχνει
τήν μεγάλη καί θερμή πίστη τῶν δικαίων τῆς Παλαιᾶς Διαθήκης. Ἐκεῖνοι οἱ
ἄνθρωποι ἐπίστευαν μέ ὅλη τους τήν καρδιά στόν Θεό, δίχως τήν παραμικρή
ἀμφιβολία. Ἦταν σίγουροι γιά τήν πατρική Του παρουσία καί τήν δική Του βοήθεια
καί προστασία, διά τοῦτο καί προχωροῦσαν καί ἀγωνίζονταν καί νικοῦσαν τόν
ἐχθρό ὅσο μεγάλος καί δυνατός καί πάνοπλος κι’ἄν ἦταν. Γιά παράδειγμα, ὅταν
πολεμοῦσαν, ἦταν βέβαιοι ὅτι εἶχαν συμπολεπιστή τους τόν Θεό. Δέν δείλιαζαν,
δέν φοβοῦνταν καί μέ θάρρος καί ἐνθουσιασμό κατετρόπωναν τούς ἀντιπάλους
τους. Ἀντιμετώπιζαν κάθε δυσκολία, διωγμό καί ἀντιξοότητα, μέ αἰσιοδοξία,
ἀποφασιστικότητα, σταθερότητα καί ἀνδρεία. Ἐρρίχνονταν στήν μάχη, δίχως νά
φοβοῦνται τόν θάνατο. Ὅτι κι’ἄν συνέβαινε, τό θεωροῦσαν ὅτι αὐτό ἦταν τό
θέλημα τοῦ Θεοῦ, γιατί νά στενοχωροῦνται; Πίστευαν ὅτι οἱ ζωές τους ἦταν στά
χέρια τοῦ Παντοδύναμου, ἀρκεῖ νά ἦταν ὑπάκουοι στόν Θεό καί νά μήν ἁμάρταναν.
Ἐάν ρίξουμε μιά ματιά στό βιβλίο τῆς Ἐξόδου, θά παρατηρήσουμε, ὅτι κάθε φορά
πού οἱ Ἰσραηλῖτες παρήκουαν τόν Θεό, ἔρχονταν τρομερές ἀρρώστιες καί δεινά.
Αἰσθανόμενοι τήν ἐνοχή τους, δέν μποροῦσαν νά μιλήσουν στόν Θεό καί
παρεκάλουν τόν Μωϋσῆ νά μιλήσει στόν Θεό γιά λογαριασμό τους. Ἐμεῖς ἀδελφοί
μου θά πάρουμε τήν παράταξη τῶν δικαίων πού στάθηκαν ἀτρόμητοι στούς
ἀπεναντίους. Αὐτό εἶναι τό ἐνθαρρυντικό μήνυμα πού ἐκπέμπουν ἀπό τά βάθη
τῶν αἰώνων πρός ἐμᾶς τούς δειλούς σήμερα, ἐκεῖνοι οἱ ἥρωες. Νά ἀποκτήσωμε καί

μεῖς αἰσθήματα ζωῆς, βασισμένα στήν ἀκράδαντη πίστη μας πρός τόν Θεό. Σήμερα
οἱ ἄνθρωποι βρίσκονται ὑπό τήν σκιά τοῦ φόβου, τῆς ἀβεβαιότητας, τῆς δειλίας,
τῆς ἀπελπισίας. Τρέμουν καί ἀγωνιοῦν γιά τήν ὑγεία τους, τήν ζωή τους, τίς
περιουσίες τους καί πᾶσης φύσεως κοσμικοῦ ἀγαθοῦ. Γιατί; Διότι ἔκαμαν ἕνα θεό
στά μέτρα τους. Θεοποίησαν τόν νάνο ἑαυτούλη τους καί μυκτηρίζουν τόν
Παντοδύναμο Θεό. Δέν ἔχουν τήν τόλμη ὅπως μέ τούς ἀνυπάκουους Ἰσραηλῖτες
τότε, νά μετανοιώσουν, νά ἀλλάξουν τρόπο ζωῆς, νά διορθώσουν τά λάθη τους, νά
πέσουν στά γόνατα, νά ζητήσουν τό ἔλεος τοῦ Θεοῦ καί νά λάβουν τήν ἄφεση καί
νά νοιώσουν αἰσθήματα λευτεριᾶς, σάν κι’αὐτά πού διακατεῖχαν τούς Δικαίους τῆς
Παλαιᾶς Διαθήκης. Δέν μποροῦμε; Δέν μᾶς συμφέρει; Καί μποροῦμε καί μᾶς
συμφέρει, ἰδικά στίς μέρες μας. Τότε γιατί δέν τό κάνουμε; Δέν πέρνουμε
παράδειγμα ἀπό τόν Φαραώ πού ἀγνόησε τίς προειδοποιήσεις τοῦ Θεοῦ, ὁ ὁποῖος
ἔγινε ἀφορμή νά χάσουν τήν ζωή τους καί νά ὑποφέρουν τά πάνδεινα ὅλοι οἱ
Αἰγύπτιοι μέ τίς Δέκα πληγές πού σάρωσαν τά πάντα; Τελικά ὁ Φαραώ, τότε πού
δέν εἶχε ἄλλη ἐπιλογή, ἔκαμε ὑπακοή στόν Θεό, ἄφισε ἐλεύθερους τούς Ἰσραηλῖτες
καί σταμάτησαν οἱ ἀρρώστιες. Μέ τί σθένος καί τί εἴδους παρρησία νά ποῦμε στόν
Θεό σήμερα, νά πάρει τήν πληγή τοῦ Κορωνοϊοῦ ἀπό πάνω μας, διότι ἔχουν
πεθάνει ἀπό τήν ἀρρώστια κοντά στό 1.400.000 ἄνθρωποι, ἐφ’ὅσον στό ἴδιο
χρονικό διάστημα ἔχομε ἀφαιρέσει τήν ζωή σέ πάνω ἀπό 40.000.000 παιδιῶν, μόνο
μέ ἐκτρώσεις; Σήμερα νά προσευχηθοῦμε ἔτι περισσότερο καί ἐντονώτερα στόν
Πανάγαθο Θεό ἀδελφοί μου, νά μᾶς λυπηθεῖ γιά τήν ὀλιπιστία μας, γιά τήν
ἀνηθικότατά μας, γιά τήν ἐγκληματικότητά μας. Γιά ὅλα αὐτά πού οἱ δίκαιοι τότε
τά θεωροῦσαν ἄδικα καί ἀντίθεα καί πού ἐμεῖς τά κάνουμε νόμο καί τά
ὑπηρετοῦμε πιστά. Νά προσευχηθοῦμε, στόν Πανάγαθο Θεό, διότι ὑπάρχουν
ἀκόμη ἄνθρωποι πιστοί καί ἀφοσιωμένοι. Ἄνθρωποι τῆς νηστείας, τῆς ἀγρυπνίας
καί τῆς προσευχῆς. Κι’ἐάν δέν μᾶς ἔχει ὁ Θεός καταστρέψει ἀκόμη, εἶναι διότι
ὑπάρχουν αὐτοί οἱ σημερινοί δίκαιοι πού εἶναι ἕτοιμοι νά θυσιαστοῦν γιά τήν πίστη
τους στόν Θεό. Ἡ Ἐκκλησία μας ἀδελφοί μου, παρουσιάζει αὐτούς τούς
πνευματικούς γίγαντες, πού δέν δίστασαν στίς σκληρές δοκιμασίες τῶν ἀνθρώπων
τῆς ἐξουσίας, στίς φοβέρες, στά ἀπάνθρωπα βασανιστήρια, στίς τρομερές
κακουχίες, στούς λιθοβολισμούς μέχρι θανάτου, στήν βορά τῶν λεονταριῶν, στόν
πριονισμό καί ἀκρωτηριασμό τῶν μελῶν τους, στίς φλόγες τῆς καμίνου, γιά νά
πάρουμε θάρρος, διότι ζοῦμε σέ δύσκολους καιρούς. Σέ καιρούς ἀποστασίας ἀπό
τόν Θεό, τό ὁποῖο ἰσοῦται μέ τόν αἰώνιο θάνατο. Ἔρχονται τά χριστούγεννα. Θά
περίμενε κανείς νά δεῖ κατά τήν διάρκεια τοῦ Σαρανταλείτουργου πού εἴχαμε ἐδῶ

στόν Προφήτη Ἠλία, μετανοιωμένους πιστούς, πού γνωρίζουν ὅτι ὁ Θεός ἐπιτρέπει
τίς ἀσθένειες γιά νά μετανοιώσουμε καί νά ἐπιστρέψουμε μέ τήν Ἱερά
Ἐξομολόγηση, μέ τήν τακτική κοινωνία τῶν Ἁγίων Μυστηρίων, μέ τόν ἐκκλησιασμό,
τουλάχιστον 100 ἀτόμων πού μᾶς ἐπιτρέπουν κάθε μέρα. Κύριε, Νεογέννητε
Χριστέ, Σέ ἱκετεύουμε, ἔλα στίς ἁμαρτωλές καρδιές μας καί συγχώρεσέ μας τούς
ἁμαρτωλούς καί φώτιζέ μας. Κάνε νά ἔλθει ἡ εἰρήνη Σου στήν γῆ. Ἀμήν

SUNDAY BEFORE CHRIST'S BIRTH (Heb. 11, 9-10, 32-40) 20 December. 2020
Our Church, dear brothers and sisters, decided to mention the names of all those
who, each with their own life, became in the flesh an ancestor of the Savior Christ.
By genealogy, from Adam to Joseph the protector of Mary, they formed the human
chain, from which it carries in its last link the Virgin Mary, from whom Christ the
Savior of the world came. Among them are the names of the great Patriarchs,
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the famous Judges of Israel Gideon, Barak and Jephthah, as
well as the glorious kings David. At the same time, he praised the wonderful
achievements of the people who believed in God and because of their great faith,
they achieved the humanly impossible. Armed people conquered hostile kingdoms.
They ruled the people with justice. They shut the mouths of lions. They extinguished
the power of fire. They escaped the massacre. They gained strength in their illnesses
and were healed. They became strong warriors and drove their enemies to flee.
They even saw resurrections. From what we have mentioned so far, the Apostle Paul
shows the great and warm faith of the righteous of the Old Testament. These people
believed with all their heart in God, without the slightest doubt. They were
confident of His paternal presence and His personal help and protection, so they
went ahead and fought and defeated the enemy as great and mighty and armored
as they saw fit. For example, when they fought, they were sure that they had God
on their side. They were not afraid, they were not afraid and with courage and
enthusiasm they defeated their opponents. They faced every difficulty, persecution
and adversity, with optimism, determination, stability and courage. They threw
themselves into battle, without fear of death. Whatever happened, they considered
it that they observed the will of God, why should they be upset? They believed that
their lives were in the hands of the Almighty, as long as they obeyed God and did
not sin. If we take a look at the book of Exodus, we will notice that every time the
Israelites didn’t worship God, there were terrible diseases and afflictions. Feeling
their guilt, they could not speak to God and begged Moses to speak to God on their

behalf. My brethren, we will take the side of the righteous who stood fearless at
their enemies. This is the encouraging message of those heroes that has been send
from the depths of the ages to us cowards and faithless people of today. Let us also
acquire feelings of life, based on our unwavering faith in God. Today people are in
the shadow of fear, uncertainty, cowardice, despair. They tremble and long for their
health, their lives, their possessions and all kinds of worldly goods. Why; Because
they made a god to their measure. They deified their dwarf self and mock the
Almighty God. They do not have the courage, as with the disobedient Israelites then,
to repent, to change their way of life, to correct their mistakes, to fall to their knees,
to ask for the mercy of God, like the righteous did? The Righteous of the Old
Testament were occupied by the unmovable faith and devotion towards God. Can’t
we do the same; Does not benefit us? Of course we can and it suits us, especially in
our days. Then why don't we do it? Do we not take the example of Pharaoh who
ignored the warnings of God, who caused them to lose their lives and suffer all the
Egyptians with the ten plagues that swept everything? Eventually Pharaoh, when he
had no other choice, obeyed God, freed the Israelites and the diseases stopped. But
with what courage and what kind of boldness could we say to God today, to take
the plague of the Coronavirus away from us, because nearly 1,400,000 people have
died of the disease, since in the same period of time we have taken the life of over
40,000,000 children, through abortions? Let us pray today, more and more intensely
to God Almighty, my brothers, to have mercy on us for our Hope, for our immorality,
for our crime. For all that the righteous then considered to be just and contrary and
where we make them law and serve them faithfully. Let us pray to God Almighty,
because there are still faithful and devoted people. People of fasting, vigilance and
prayer. And if God has not yet destroyed us, it is because there, among us are still
some of those righteous who are ready to sacrifice their life for their faith in God.
Our Church, my brethren, presents today these spiritual giants, who did not hesitate
in the harsh trials of the people of power, in the horrors, in the inhuman tortures,
in the terrible hardships, in the stoning to death. Those, in the flames of the furnace,
to take courage, because we live in difficult times. In times of apostasy from God,
which is accompanied by eternal death. Christmas is coming. One would expect to
see during the Fortieth Liturgy that we had here in the Prophet Elias Church,
repentant believers, who know that God allows diseases to repent and return with
the Holy Confession. , at least 100 people who allow us every day. Lord, Newborn

Christ, we are beseeching You in our sinful hearts to forgive us sinners and to
enlighten us. Make Your Heavenly peace come to earth. Amen

Ἱερές ἀκολουθίες
Χριστούγεννα
Ἐνημερώνουμε τούς πιστούς μας, ὅτι ἀνήμερα τῶν Χριστουγέννων θ’ἀρχίσει ὁ
Ὄρθρος στήν Ἐνορία μας στίς 7.30 καί θά τελειώσει μέ τήν Θεία Λειτουργία περίπου
στίς 9.45 τό πρωῒ.
Christmas
We inform our faithful that on Christmas day the Matins will begin in our Parish at
7.30am. & will end with the Divine Liturgy at about 9.45 in the morning.
Τήν Πέμπτη 31 Δεκεμβρίου, παραμονή τῆς Περιτομῆς τοῦ Κυρίου, τοῦ Μεγάλου
Βασιλείου καί Πρωτοχρονιᾶς, θά τελέσωμε Ὄρθρο καί μεσονυκτική Θεία Λειτουργία,
ἀρχομένης ἀπό τίς 10.45 περίπου τό βράδυ καί θά τελειώσουμε γύρω στίς 12.15 μετά
τά μεσάνυχτα περίπου.
On Thursday, December 31, the eve of the Circumcision of the Lord, Basil the Great
and the New Year feast, we will perform the midnight Matins and Divine Liturgy,
starting at about 10.45 in the evening and will end at around 12.15 after midnight.

Ἡ Θεία Λειτουργία στήν ἀγγλική, Ἐτησία ἐκδήλωση τῆς Νεολαίας

Κάνουμε γνωστό, ὅτι τό Σάββατο 26 Δεκεμβρίου, θά τελέσωμεν εἰς τόν Ἱερό Ναό μας
τήν Θεία Λειτουργία στήν ἀγγλική γλῶσσα 5.00 ἕως 6.00 τό βράδυ. Στήν συνέχεια θά
λάβει χώρα τό ἐτήσιο B-B-Q τῆς Νεολαίας τῆς Ἐνορίας μας. Σέ αὐτήν τήν ἐκδήλωση
ἐκτός τῶν μελῶν τῆς νεολαίας μας, καλοῦμε τά μέλη ὅλων τῶν ἐπιτροπῶν: Δ.
Συμβουλίου, Φιλοπτώχου, Κατηχητικῶν, Σχολείων, σχολικῆς ἐπιτροπῆς,
ἐκλησιαστικῆς ἐπιτροπῆς, Ἱεροψαλτῶν καί βοηθῶν, τῆς συντακτικῆς ἐπιτροπῆς τοῦ
Φυλλαδίου μας, καθώς καί ἐθελοντῶν καί ἐθελοντριῶν τῆς Κοινότητος-Ἐνορίας μας.
Σκοπός εἶναι νά κάνουμε ἕναν γενικό ἰσολογισμό τοῦ ἔτους πού πέρασε καί νά
ἀνταλλάξουμε ἰδέες γύρω ἀπό μελλοντικά προγράμματα πού ἀφοροῦν ὅλους μας. Ἡ
συμμετοχή μας, θεωρεῖτε ἐπιβεβλημένη.

Divine Liturgy in English & the Annual B.B.Q function of our Youth
We announce that on Saturday, December 26, we will perform in our Holy Church the
Divine Liturgy in English from 5.00 to 6.00 in the evening. Then the annual B-B-Q., of
the Youth of our Parish will take place. In this event, in addition to the members of our
youth, we welcome the members of all the committees: Executive, Philoptochos,

Catechists, Schools, School Committee, Ecclesiastical Committee, and Volunteers of
our Community-Parish. The aim is to make an overview of the past year and to
exchange ideas around future programs which concerns all of us. Our participation, is
considered as an important one.

Τά ἐνδιαφέροντα τῆς ἐποχῆς μας

Ἡ ἀνθρώπινη ἱστορία ἔχει καταγράψει ὅλες τίς ἐποχές τοῦ ἀνθρώπινου γένους καθώς
καί τό ἱστορικό τῆς κάθε ἐποχῆς. Ἐμεῖς δέν εἴμεθα ἱστορικοί καί σίγουρα δέν εἶναι ἕνα
ἀπό τά θέματα τοῦ Φυλλαδίου μας. Σποπός τοῦ Φυλλαδίου μας εἶναι νά ἐνημερώνει
τούς Ὀρθοδόξους Χριστιανούς μας γύρω ἀπό τά ἀποστολικά καί εὐαγγελικά
ἀναγνώσματα τῆς ἑβδομάδος, μέ πνευματικές ἀναφορές σέ θέματα πίστεως καί
λατρείας καί τά ἐνοριακά μας προγράμματα. Ἐπειδή ὅμως κατά τήν διάρκεια τοῦ
ἔτους πού πέρασε, ἔγινε καί συνεχίζει νά γίνεται ἕνας ἀνελέητος βομβαρδισμός πού
στοχεύει τήν ψυχή τοῦ ἀνθρώπου, θεωροῦμε ὅτι ἔχουμε εὐθύνη. Ἔχουμε εὐθύνη
ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ, νά βοηθήσουμε τούς πιστούς μας, στήν πίστη τους πρός Αὐτόν.
Μέ ἄλλα λόγια, νά τούς ποῦμε τήν ἀλήθεια ὅπως ἔχει καί ὄχι ὅπως νομίζει ὁ καθένας.
Οἱ Χριστιανοί μας θέλουν τήν σταράτη ἀλήθεια τοῦ Χριστοῦ, τῶν Ἀποστόλων καί τῶν
Πατέρων καί ὄχι μασημένα λόγια. Νά τούς ποῦμε ὅτι ἡ ἀλήθεια τοῦ Θεοῦ εἶναι μία.
Νά τούς ποῦμε ὅτι πρίν νά ἔλθει ὁ Χριστός στήν γῆ μας ἔβλεπε τούς ἀνθρώπους
σκορπισμένους σάν τά χαμένα πρόβατα χωρίς ποιμένα. Καί ὁ σκοπός πού ἦλθε ἦταν
νά συγκεντρώσει ὅλα αὐτά τά λογικά πρόβατα σέ μιά μάνδρα καί νά ἔχουν, ὄχι ἕναν
ὁποιοδήποτε ποιμένα, ἀλλά τόν Πατέρα καί Δημιουργό τους. Ἐκεῖνον πού
ἐθυσιάστηκε στόν Σταυρό καί ὑπέστει τά πάνδεινα γιά τήν δική μας σωτηρία. Ἐκεῖνον
πού εἶπε ὅτι ὅποιος ἔλθει σέ μένα, θά τόν προστατεύσω, δέν θά τόν βγάλω ἔξω.
Ἐκεῖνον πού μέ τό Τίμιο Αἷμα Του ἵδρυσε τήν Ἐκκλησία καί ἀκόμη, ὅτι στήν πρώτη Του
Θεία Λειτουργία «Τό Μυστικό Δεῖπνο» ἄφισε νά περάσουν μέσα, ὄχι μόνο ὅλοι οἱ
πιστοί μαθητές Του, ἀλλά καί ὁ Προδότης Ἰούδας. Νά ποῦμε στούς Ὀρθοδόξους
πιστούς μας, ὅτι ὁ Θεός ἑνώνει, ἀδελφοποιεῖ καί ἁγιάζει τούς ἀνθρώπους. Νά ποῦμε
στούς πιστούς μας ὅτι ὁ Χριστός μας, συγ-χώρεσε καί συγ-χωρεῖ τούς καθημερινούς
σταυρωτές Του. Καί ἀκόμη νά τούς ποῦμε ὅτι ὅποιος πιστεύει στόν Θεό δέν φοβᾶται
ἀκόμη καί ἐάν πρόκειται νά μαρτυρήσει καί νά πεθάνει γιά τήν πίστη του. Νά ποῦμε
στούς πιστούς μας ὅτι ὁ Ὀρθόδοξος Χριστιανός βλέπει στά πρόσωπα τοῦ κόσμου
εἰκόνες Θεοῦ καί αἰσθάνεται μόνο ἀδελφούς γύρω του. Νά ποῦμε στούς πιστούς μας
ὅτι ἡ Ἐκκλησία τοῦ Χριστοῦ μας εἶναι ὁ γήϊνος Παράδεισος. Ἐκεῖ ἁγιάζονται οἱ πιστοί
καί δυναμώνουν τίς πνευματικές τους φτεροῦγες γιά νά πετάξουν, σάν ἔλθει ἡ ὥρα
κοντά Του. Καί ἀκόμη νά ἐκφράσωμε τήν λύπη μας γιά τήν κατάντια τοῦ σατανᾶ. Τό

τί ἦταν καί πού κατάντησε. Αὐτός εἶναι ὁ χωριστής. Αὐτός μόνο χωρίζει. Μοναδικό
σκοπό ἔχει τόν χωρισμό τῶν ἀνθρώπων. Ἀπόδειξη ὅτι ἐχώρισε τούς Πρωτοπλάστους
ἀπό τόν Δημιουργό τους Θεό, ἐφ’ὅσον τούς ἔπεισε ὅτι ὁ Θεός ψεύδεται -Κύριε
συγχώρεσέ μας- καί ὅτι ὁ διάβολος τούς ἔλεγε τήν ἀλήθεια. Ἔτσι ἔβγαλε τούς
πρώτους ἀνθρώπους ἀπ’τόν Παράδεισο. Χωρίζει οἰκογένειες καί παιδιά καί
ἀνδρόγυνα καί λαούς καί δημιουργεῖ ἔχθρες καί τρομερά μίση ματαξύ τους. Νά ποῦμε
στούς πιστούς μας, ὅτι ὀφείλουμε νά λυπηθοῦμε εἰλικρινά γι’αὐτούς πού μέ τό ἴδιο
ἑωσφορικό πρόσχημα «ὁ Θεός σας ψεύδεται, ἐγώ σᾶς λέγω τήν ἀλήθεια» βγάζουν
σήμερα, τούς πιστούς ἀπό τόν γήϊνο Παράδεισό μας. Κάποιος, προφανῶς ἀκατήχητος
εἶπε καί τό φαιδρό, ὅτι ἡ Ἐκκλησία τῶν πιστῶν, -πού εἶναι τό ζωντανό Σῶμα τοῦ
Χριστοῦ μέ κεφαλή τόν Ἴδιο τόν Χριστό- ἔπεσε κάτω τῶν περιστάσεων. Ἀξιολύπητος
ὁ καημένος, ὀφείλουμε νά προσευχηθοῦμε ὅπως ὁ Θεός τόν ἐλεήσει ἀπό τήν
βλασφημία. Ὅπως φαίνεται καί νάθελαν νά κρυφτοῦν οἱ ταλαίπωροι ἔγιναν
καταγέλαστοι σέ ὅλους. Μᾶς πῆραν εἴδηση καί ἄντε νά τά μαζέψουμε. Συνεχίζεται...

The interests of our time

The human history has recorded all the epochs of the human race as well as the history
of each era. We are not historians and certainly not one of the themes of our Brochure.
The purpose of our Booklet is to inform our Orthodox Christians about the apostolic
and evangelical readings of the week, with spiritual references to matters of faith and
worship and our parish programs. But because during the past year, there has been
and continues to be a relentless bombardment that targets the human soul, we
consider that we have a responsibility. We have a responsibility before God to help our
faithful in their faith in Him. In other words, to tell them the truth as it is and not as
everyone thinks. Our Christians want the real truth of Christ, the Apostles and the
Fathers and not chewed words. Let us tell them that the truth of God is one. Let us tell
them that before Christ came to our earth he saw people scattered like lost sheep
without a shepherd. And the purpose he came was, to gather all these lost sheep in
one pen and to have, not just any shepherd, but God their Father and Creator. He who
sacrificed himself on the Cross and did everything for our salvation. He who said that
whoever comes to me, I will protect him, I will not take him out. He who with His Holy
Blood built the Church and even that in His first Divine Liturgy "The Last Supper" He
allowed to pass through, not only all His faithful disciples, but also the Traitor Judas.
Let us say to our orthodox believers, that God unites, fraternizes and puts people
together. Let us say to our believers that our Christ has forgiven and continues to
forgive His daily persecutors. And yet to tell them that whoever believes in God is not

afraid. If God is with him he is ready even to die for his faith. Let us tell our faithful that
the Orthodox Christian sees in the faces of all people images of God and feels that
there are only brothers and sisters around him. Let us tell our faithful that the Church
of Christ is our earthly Paradise. There the faithful are sanctified and strengthen their
spiritual wings to fly, when the time come. And even to express our sorrow for the
downfall of Satan. What he was and where he became. Satan is the divisive beast. He
only divorces. Its sole purpose is the separation of people. He only divorces. Its sole
purpose is the separation of people. He achieved that to separate the Protoplasts from
their Creator God, when he convinced them that God was lying - Lord forgive us - and
he was telling them the truth. In this way Satan has taken away Adam and Eve out of
Paradise. He separates families and children and couples and peoples and creates
enemies and terrible hatred between them. Let us say to our believers that we must
sincerely grieve for those who with the same euphoric pretext "God is lying to you, I
tell you the truth" are taking the believers out of our earthly Paradise today. Someone,
obviously spiritually uneducated, also said that the Church of the faithful, which is the
living Body of Christ under the head of Christ Himself, has fallen below the
circumstances. Pity for poor man, we must pray that God will have mercy on him for
this blasphemy. It is obvious that these people try to get away but seems that
everyone have realized their evil plans. To be continued…

Θάνατος-Κηδεία
Τήν περασμένη Κυριακή 13 Δεκεμβρίου, ἐκοιμήθει ὁ ἐκ Ἀνδρωνιάνους Κύμης Εὐβοίας
καταγώμενος, ἀείμνηστος Εὐάγγελος Νικολιάς, εἰς ἡλικίαν 85 ἐτῶν. Ἡ ἐξόδιος
ἀκολουθία τοῦ ἀειμνήστου ἔλαβε χώρα εἰς τόν Ἱερό Ναό μας τήν Παρασκευή 18
Δεκεμβρίου καί ὥρα 10.30 τό πρωῒ. Ὁ π. Μιχαήλ ἀπηύθυνε ἐπαινετό ἐπικήδειο λόγο
γιά τήν μακροχρόνια καί πολυδιάστατη προσφορά τοῦ ἀειμνήστου πρός τήν
Κοινότητα -Ἐνορία μας. Ὁ Πρόεδρος κ. Κεφαλιανός, κατέθεσε στεφάνι, ἐκ μέρους τῆς
Κοινότητος-Ἐνορίας μας. Ὁ ἐνταφιασμός ἔγινε στό Κοιμητήριον τοῦ Payneham καί ὁ
καφές παρηγορίας προσφέρθηκε ἀπό τήν οἰκογένεια στήν ἐνοριακή μας αἴθουσα. Ὁ
π. Μιχαήλ, ὁ Πρόεδρος, τά μέλη τοῦ Δ. Συμβουλίου καί τῆς Φιλοπτώχου, ἐκφράζουν
πρός τήν τεθλιμμένη σύζυγο, τέκνα ἐγγόνια, ἀδέλφια καί συγγενεῖς τοῦ ἀειμνήστου,
τά εἰλικρινῆ τους συλλυπητήρια καί εὔχονται τήν ἐξ ὕψους ἐνίσχυση καί παρηγορία.
Τούς καταθέσαντες χρήματα πρός τήν Ἐκκλησία εἰς μνήμην τοῦ ἀειμνήστου, πολύ
εὐχαριστοῦμε. Τίς δωρεές ἀντί στεφάνου θά τίς ἀναφέρουμε στήν ἑπόμενη ἔκδοση
τοῦ Φυλλαδίου μας.

Death-Funeral
Last Sunday, December 13, the late Evangelos Nikolias, from the Androniani Evia,
passed away at the age of 85. The memorial services took place in our Holy Church on
Friday, December 18 at 10.30 in the morning. Fr. Michael addressed a laudatory funeral
speech for the long-term and multidimensional contribution of the deceased to our
Community -Parish. The President, Mr. Kefalianos, laid a wreath on behalf of our
Community-Parish. The burial took place at Payneham Cemetery and the consolation
coffee was offered by the family in our Parish’s hall. Fr. Michael, the President, the
members of the Executive Committee and the Ladies Philoptochos, express to the
bereaved wife, children, grandchildren, brothers and relatives of the deceased, their
sincerest condolences and extend their deepest condolences. We are also very grateful
to those who have offered money to the Church in memory of the deceased. The
donations in lieu of flowers will appear in our next edition.

Στό κατώφλι τῶν Χριστουγέννων

Οἱ μέρες πού μᾶς χωρίζουν ἀπό τήν Ἅγια καί μεγάλη νύχτα, πού ὁ Θεός τῆς ἀγάπης
κατέβηκε στόν κόσμο, ὅσο πᾶνε καί λιγοστεύουν. Οἱ δρόμοι τῆς πόλης μας ἔχουν
πάρει γιορτινή ὄψη. Τά βράδυα φαντάζουν οἱ καταστόλιστες βιτρίνες πού λάμπουν
τά πολύχρωμα φῶτα. Οἱ ἄνθρωποι κυκλοφοροῦν βιαστικοί καί πολυάσχολοι,
μοιάζουν νά προαισθάνονται τήν μεγάλη γιορτή. Εἶναι τό νόημα τῆς ἀγάπης τῆς
θαλπωρῆς, τῆς ψυχικῆς γαλήνης. Μᾶς γεμίζει τό γεγονός τῶν Χριστουγέννων τήν
σκέψη μας. Ἕνα γλυκό καί ἠρεμο φῶς σάν νά ἐκπέμπεται ἀπό μιά νοερή φάτνη καί
κάνει τίς καρδιές τῶν Χριστιανῶν νά νιώθουν τήν ἀνάγκη νά προσφέρουν ἀγάπη στό

διπλανό τους, νά δείξουν ὅσο πιό ὄμορφο μποροῦν τόν ἐσωτερικό τους κόσμο. Ὁ
Χριστός πού θά γεννηθεῖ εἶναι ὁ Θεός τῆς συγγνώμης. Αὐτές τίς μέρες καταλαβαίνει
ὁ Χριστιανός καί νιώθει πιό ἔντονα καί πιό μεστά τό νόημα τῆς θεϊκῆς αὐτῆς ἀρετῆς.
Ἡ συμπόνια καί ἡ συμπάθεια γι’αὐτούς πού ὑποφέρουν, μᾶς κατακλύζει αὐτές τίς
Ἅγιες μέρες. Ἀκόμη ὁ νοῦς τῶν παλαιοτέρων ἀπό τούς Χριστιανούς, ἀνεβασμένος
πάνω σ’ ἀγγελικά φτερά, προσγιώνεται στό προαύλιο τῆς Ἐκκλησιᾶς τοῦ χωριοῦ του.
Ἀκοῦν τίς γλυκόλαλες καμπᾶνες νά διαλαλοῦν τό χαρμόσυνο ἄγγελμα τῆς
ἐνανθρωπήσεως τοῦ Σωτῆρα. Τό κρύο εἶναι τσουχτερό. Γύρω, ὁλόκληρη ἡ χιονισμένη
πλάση ἀφουγκράζεται μέ ἀγαλλίαση τό Μεγάλο γεγονός. Μπαίνουμε μέσα,
ἀνάβουμε τό κεράκι μας ἀσπαζόμαστε τίς εἰκόνες καί στεκόμαστε μέ εὐλάβεια σέ μιά
γωνιά. Τ’ἀναρίθμητα κεριά, οἱ λαμπάδες, τά μανουάλια, τά κανδήλια, οἱ πολυἐλαιοι
ρίχνουν ἄπλετο φῶς πάνω στίς χρυσές καί ἀσημένιες εἰκόνες, στά πολυτελῆ ἄμφια
τῶν Ἱερέων, στά χαρούμενα πρόσωπα τῶν ἀνθρώπων. Ἡ ψυχή μας κατανύγεται καί
αἰσθάνεται νά κάνει φτερά. Πόσο γλυκόφωνα ψάλλουν οἱ ψάλτες καί ἁρμονικά.
Θαρρεῖς πῶς ἀκούγωνται ὕμνοι ἀγγελικοί σάν τότες στήν Ἅγια νύχτα τῆς Βηθλεέμ.
Θελήσαμε σήμερα ν’ἀλλάξουμε τό κλίμα τῆς σκληρῆς πραγματικότητας, νά
ζεστάνουμε τήν παγωνιά πού σκόρπισε φέτος στίς καρδιές μας ὁ πονηρός καί νά
γλυκάνουμε τά πικραμένα χείλη τῶν ἀδελφῶν μας, ἀλλά καί νά ρίξουμε λίγο νεράκι
στίς χριστιανικές μας ρίζες, πού ἀργοξηραίνονται. Μόνο ἐάν προσφέρουμε κατάλυμα
τοῦ Χριστοῦ μας μέσα στήν ψυχή μας, θά νιώσουμε τόν Ἐμμανουήλ καί θά
γιορτάσουμε στ΄ἀλήθεια.

On the doorstep of Christmas

The days that separate us from the holy and great night, where the God of love came
down to the world, are diminishing. The streets of our city have taken on a festive look.
At night they imagine the repressive shop windows that shine the colorful plants.
People move around hurriedly and busy, they seem to anticipate the big celebration.
It is the meaning of the love of warmth, of mental peace. The fact of Christmas fills our
minds. A sweet and calm light as if emitted from a spiritual manger and makes the
hearts of Christians feel the need to offer love to their neighbor, to show as beautiful
as they can their inner world. The Christ who will be born is the God of forgiveness.
These days the Christian understands and feels more intensely and more mature the
meaning of this divine virtue. Compassion and sympathy for those who suffer,
overwhelms us these holy days. Even the minds of the older Christians, mounted on
angelic wings, approach the courtyard of the Church of his village. They listen to the
sweet bells to rejoice in the joyful profession of the incarnation of the Savior. The cold

is bitter. All around, the whole snow-covered surrounding listens with joy to the Great
Event. We enter the Church, light our candle, venerated the icons and stand reverently
in a corner. The innumerable candles, the larger candles, the kandilia, the chandeliers
spread a lot of light on the gold and silver icons, on the luxurious clothes of the priests,
on the happy faces of the people. Our soul is consumed and feels it is growing wings.
How sweetly the singers sing harmoniously. You thing that angelic hymns from the
Silent Night of Bethlehem are heard. Today we wanted to change the climate of the
harsh reality, to warm the frost that spread this year in our hearts by the sly and to
sweeten the bitter lips of our brothers and sisters in the newborn Christ. But also to
add a little water to our spiritual Christian roots that are dying out. Only if we properly
offer to our Christ a manger in our souls to be born will we feel Emmanuel to celebrate
His coming with us.
