Introduction:

My name is Alyssa Li. And I am 18 years old graduated from City Vancouver
Academy high school. I am seeking for the customer service
representative position that Medigas company offers. I have been working
as a service representative in Homeless Shelter Charity and Spring Bud
project which is a non-profit project helps homeless children in poverty.
During these experiences, I realize I am really good at dealing with people
and communicating. It would be a joy and pleasure working in Medigas as a
customer service representative.

Situation: As for a customer service representative, I may encounter some

customers ask for some service that we can’t offer. For example, they may
ask for products that are short for now.

Story:
When I was a volunteer at homeless shelter project, one of the people ask me
to ship some peanut butter to her at dinner, however, we don’t have any
jams or butter in there. To solve this problem, I use the “compliment
sandwich” method – Give them a compliment, tell them the bad news, then
end with another compliment.
So my answer is: “Well, Mrs., we really appreciate you telling us about this
situation. Unfortunately, since it’s a home shelter charity, not all stuffs
such as peanut butter can be offered here. And there’s nothing we can do
to resolve it. To make it up to you, we can give you extra coffee or hot
tea. Would you like to have another cup?” And finally, the lady who asked
for peanut butter agree to take an extra cup of tea and problem solved
successfully.

1.Why do you want to work in our company?

Medigas is the best and most authorized healthcare company in the region
which motivates me to strive for excellence in everything I do at work.
Also, when I see the problems are perfectly solved and get a positive
feedback from customers, I will always feel satisfied and accomplished by
what I have done.

2.Why should we hire you?

That is a critical question. Thanks for asking. I believe that my experience
with communicating with people, specifically in the customer service
aspect, make me the best match for this position. In my previous
volunteer experience in Homeless shelter charity, I was responsible for
replying to people’s requests and concerns. This required anaylizing the
issue under various situation and satisfying people’s need as well as
possible. I truly enjoyed what I was doing, which is what drew me to this
position with your company. I would love to bring the communication and
interpersonal skills I learned there to this position.

3. how do you handle pressure at work

My strategies for this are to focus on the bigger picture and break down my
projects into smaller tasks which will make the impossible task doesn’t seem
so impossible and desperate to accomplish. And for next, I will ask myself
what is the ultimate goal I’m trying to achieve? From there, I make a list of
action items with reasonable deadlines and tackle them one by one.
Additionally, I will also picture the worst-scenario of failing to the task and
just give myself a little heads-up. So I won’t be that vulnerable and
breakdown when the bad things come out.

4. what is your greatest weakness?

Honestly, I am too direct. Sometimes, i just say the truth of something which
is a little bit awkward and not very pleasant to accept and may hurt others
feelings. For example, my coworker once got uncomfortable when I point out
her mistake directly in front of others instead of reminding her in private.
However, I have been working on it for a while. I try to think before saying
something directly and try to figure out what would others feel in their
shoes..

5.Do you work well with other people?

Yes. Working on a number of team projects has allowed me to develop my
ability to communicate clearly with others, and mediate conflicts between
team members. For example, on the volunteer project I have participated, two
of my teammates were having trouble reaching an agreement about how to
approach an element of the project. I listened to each of their concerns and
got everyone to sit down and come up with a solution that would satisfy
everyone. Because of my ability to listen to others and mediate conflict, we
were able to finish our project ahead of schedule, and even received
commendation from our employer for the high quality of our work.

One smart question: What do you expect from team members in this position?
