Procedure
– Check all vacuum lines throughout entire vacuum system for:
♦ Cracks
♦ Marten bites
♦ Crushing
♦ Porous areas and other leaks
– Check vacuum line to solenoid valve and from solenoid valve
to relevant component.
– If a fault has been entered in the event memory, make sure to
check not only all vacuum lines leading to the specified com‐
ponent, but also those leading to other components.
– If pressure cannot be built-up using hand vacuum pump - VAS
6213- or pressure immediately drops again, check hand vac‐
uum pump and connecting hoses for leaks.

Procedure
– Remove oil pressure switch - F1- and screw into tester.
– Screw tester into oil filter bracket in place of oil pressure
switch.
– Connect test instrument/DSO adapter (2-pin) - VAS 5256- to
oil pressure switch
– Connect Multimeter - V.A.G 1526E- to test instrument/DSO
adapter (2-pin) - VAS 5256- and check for continuity.
• Oil pressure switch must be open at a pressure below 1.2 bar.
– Start engine and increase rpm; oil pressure switch must close
at pressure of 1.2…1.6 bar. Otherwise renew oil pressure
switch.
– Increase engine speed further. At 2000 rpm and an oil tem‐
perature of 80°C, the oil pressure should be between 2.7 to
4.5 bar.
At higher engine speeds, the oil pressure must not exceed 7.0
bar.
If specification is not attained:
– Check strainer in oil intake pipe for soiling.

tiveness of the coolant. Because the water quality differs from
country to country and even from region to region, the quality
of the water to be used in the cooling system has been speci‐
fied by Volkswagen. Distilled water fulfils all requirements.
Therefore, always use only distilled water when mixing coolant
for topping up or renewing coolant.

Caution
The seal for the push-on coupling can be damaged if the re‐
taining clip is in the locked position during installation. This
would result in leaking. Observe assembly instructions.
Removing
– Loosen locking lug -A-.
– Release plug-in connector by pulling out retaining clip
-arrow-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
– On renewing oil seal in charge air hose groove; ensure that oil
seal is seated completely in groove all around and is not twis‐
ted.
– Coat sealing surface and oil seal with oil.

Procedure
– Loosen bolts -3 and 4- on front clamp -1-.
– Align front clamp -1- to marking -A- on front exhaust pipe -2-
(-arrow- points forwards).
• Dimension -a- = 5 mm
• Do not allow the bolts must be on the right and the ends to
protrude beyond the lower edge of the clamp.
– Tighten front clamp bolts -3- hand-tight.

– Pull all ignition coils out of spark plug recess using puller -
T40039- .
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing,
note the following:
Note
♦ When fitting new spark plugs, the ignition coil must be re‐
greased using lubricating paste - G 052 141 A2- This will stop
the ignition coil sealing hose from sticking to the spark plug.
The lubricating paste must be distributed on the spark plug
when inserting on the ignition coil.
♦ New ignition coils with output stage are lubricated when de‐
livered.
♦ The lubricating paste coat must be 1…2 mm thick.
