Subject: Year 7-8 Hay Festival at Manarat Al Saadiyat

Dear Parents,

We are delighted to announce that we have been invited to attend the Hay Festival at the Manarat Al
Saadiyat on Wednesday 26th February.

Hay Festival Abu Dhabi brings writers and readers together for conversation and new ideas. For four
days, 99 internationally acclaimed writers and performers from 20 countries gather together for a
festival of entertainment and inspiration.

As part of Hay Festival Abu Dhabi’s commitment to bringing literature to life for students of all ages we
are excited to announce the Programme for Schools - events that aim to enhance enjoyment of reading
for pleasure and offer students new opportunities and ideas. These specially curated events will offer
students opportunities to meet authors and to browse and buy books to have signed in the Hay Festival
Abu Dhabi Bookshop.

The Programme for Schools includes a stellar selection of poets, novelists and entertainers blending
live performances, workshops and storytelling in Arabic and English.

Students will leave school at 8.00am and will return by 1.30pm. We will travel by bus to the Manarat
Al Saadiyat and students will attend 3 sessions with authors of various kinds. There will be opportunities
to buy books so students can bring money with them if they wish – students must be responsible for
their own money. Students are expected to wear full school uniform and should bring a water bottle,
snacks and a packed lunch with them.
If you would like your son/daughter to accompany us on this visit, please complete the consent form
and medical form and return to the Finance department by Sunday 16 th February.
