Holy Cross Parish celebrates the Exaltation

of the Holy Cross and BEC Day

On September 14, 2020, the Feast of the

Exaltation of the Holy Cross was celebrated
during the Holy Mass presided by Rev. José
Araneta Cabantan, Archbishop of Cagayan
de Oro, and concelebrated by Fr. Amie P.
Balacuit, parish priest.
 

In his homily, Archbishop Cabantan said

that the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross is
a celebration and commemoration of God's
greatest work: His salvific death on the cross
and His resurrection, through which death
was defeated and the doors to heaven was
opened. When Moses lifted up the bronze
serpent over the people, it was a
foreshadowing of the salvation through
Jesus when He was lifted up on the Cross.
 
“Sa panahon sa pandemiya, dinhi ma-testingan ang atong pagtuo sa Ginoo. Makapangutana
kita kanus-a pa kini mahuman. Asa ang Ginoo niining panahona? Sama kini sa panahon ni
Moises, pila pa ka siglo ang ilang pagpa-abot sa Mesias. Gikinahanglan nga lig-onon nato ang
atong pagtuo ug pagsalig sa Ginoo,” matod sa arsobispo. “We are called to keep our eyes on
Jesus on the cross, living in the knowledge that if we obey Him and live our lives in the ways of
our Catholic faith, we will be saved,” he concluded.

Fr. Balacuit thanked the parishioners and guests who attended the celebration and commended
everyone for their participation in a more meaningful and peaceful event.
