The Aarensfolk

General Heritage: Vesten from the Aarensfolk tribe are known for their mystical connection to the spirit
world and their proficiency in the runes. The most powerful Skajaeren from Vesten legends almost always
hail from Aarensfolk lands. Heroes with Laerdom gain 2 extra points of Sorcerous Knacks to use during
creation. However, they only receive 95 HP at character creation (instead of 100). In addition, Aarensfolk
can never purchase the Courtier Skill.

The Bodilsfolk
General Heritage: The Bodilsfolk enjoy the honor of having more High Kings in their lineage than any
other tribe. Consequently, they are held in high esteem by other Vesten, and even foreigners sense their
nobility and pride. Heroes from the Bodilsfolk tribe can purchase the Commanding Virtue for 8 HP.
However, the Misfortunate Hubris only gives them 8HP instead of 10, and they cannot purchase the
Servant Skill under any circumstances.

The Enhedsfolk
General Heritage: The Enhedsfolk are known for their friendly and welcoming manner. As a result, others
tend to feel more comfortable and trusting around them, even Vendel. Heroes from the Enhedsfolk tribe
gain an extra 5 points of Reputation at character creation. However, they must purchase either Old Name,
Jarl, or Thrall at the regular points cost.

The Handelsfolk
General Heritage: The Handelsfolk are renowned for their talented craftsmen and traders. However, this
talent can sometimes be their downfall, as the comforts of the Vendel call out to them. Heroes from the
Handelsfolk tribe get the Merchant skill for free, and enjoy a Free Raise when using their hands to craft an
object. However, they must purchase the Greedy Hubris, for which they get only 8 HP.

The Jordsfolk
General Heritage: Ages ago, the Jordsfolk were entrusted by Grumfather to keep the Old Ways alive.
They have taken to this responsibility with zeal, and are known for both their skill in dealing with nature,
and their enthusiasm for hunting down encroaching Vendel. Heroes from the Jordsfolk tribe gain the
Hunter or Whaler skill for free with an additional free Advanced Knack. However, they must purchase a 2
point Wanted Background, which represents Vendel authorities hunting them down for a crime (whether
deserved or not).

The Larsfolk
General Heritage: The Larsfolk are known throughout the Vesten lands as ferocious and skilled warriors.
Larsfolk are taught from an early age how to fight, and they learn their lessons well. Heroes from the
Larsfolk tribe gain the Combat Reflexes Advantage for free. However, they cannot purchase the Firearms
Skill under any circumstances.

The Stjernasfolk
General Heritage: The Stjernasfolk are legendary for their skill as sailors in a nation full of great sailors.
Their abilities on the high seas are nothing short of awesome. Heroes from the Stjernasfolk tribe must
purchase the Sailor skill, but they may purchase Advanced Knacks for Sailor for 2 HP instead of 3 at
character creation. However, they may not purchase the Streetwise Skill under any circumstances.

The Tillitsfolk
General Heritage: Extremely old fashioned, Tillitsfolk are xenophobic and mistrusting of strangers in the
extreme. However, this self-imposed isolationism can be beneficial, as the Tillitsfolk are very self-
sufficient. Tillitsfolk gain the Hunter Skill and the Barterer Advantage for free. However, they cannot start
play with more than 10G (they must spend their starting money so that they have 10G or less when the
game starts).
Vendel
General Heritage: This advantage is for heroes who were born to Vendel parents and grew up in a Vendel
city, not for a hero who was born to a Vesten tribe and chose to become Vendel. The Vendel are an
industrious and economically-minded people. They are some of the most renowned merchants, craftsmen,
and sailors in Theah. As a result, Vendel heroes gain either the Merchant or Sailor skill for free.
Furthermore, to represent a Vendel's education in a particular trade, Vendel Heroes receive a 2 point
discount on the Merchant Guild Advantage. However, Vendel frown on their former kinsmen for their
inability to adjust to the "modern" world, thus Vendel heroes receive a -2 penalty on social challenges when
dealing with Vesten. If the ST feels that the specific person or people you are dealing with know you and
will judge what you say based on you, he may allow a reduction in this penalty or offer no penalty at all,
but this is a situation-by-situation call.
