ABSTRACT
The electric field distribution has
significant importance in the
designing of any high voltage
gear/equipment design. On the off
chance that the plan is not test
checked and totally broke down the
field at the ending side collects at the
edges offering ascend to the high
electric field, causing the crown and
other sort of releases. Hence, the plan
should be examined through
COMSOL quickly.

In this report the XLPE link is

designed which is tried through
various electric field and
dissemination is dissected altogether.
During the design, the protection and
ending semiconductor is set so that
there are no bigger spikes at the
limits of the link.

The calculations are is for a 24 kV XLPE

cable with the following data:
Diameter =18.1 mm
Insulation = 5.5 mm
Semiconducting layer = 0.5 mm
Overall diameter = 30.1 mm
Outside diameter 40.1 mm

2. Cable with the semiconductor layer

Electric Potential and Field distribution 2D:

An ending/terminating device is set soon after the polymeric protection, that is a semi cone of explicit

conductivity and relative permittivity.

Electric Potential distribution 3D:

The 3D simulation of the design of protection/insulation around the live line of 24k is demonstrated as

follows

Figure 7: Electric Potential distribution 3D

Field Distribution at the outer boundary:

The field is concentrated/assembled at the sharp edges offering ascend to the higher electric field, this causes

a ton of issues, for example, crown releases. Subsequently, there should be a plan which debilitate these

ascents at the external end.

3. Cable with a Stress Cone

Electric Potential and Field distribution 2D:

The electric potential that is equipotential lines gets uniform with the ramifications of the stress cone design.

The field lines don't think to single point rather disseminated consistently across the entire external body of

the polymeric elastic pressure cone.

Field Distribution at the outer boundary:

This is the final design which gives the most significant level of the uniformity of an electric field at the

limits/boundaries. The entire electric field is of sure number of extents with least number of field spikes as

demonstrated as follows.

4. Conclusion

Insulation is of key significance with regards to high voltage design space. It keeps the link from various

sort of stresses both inside and outer natural, for example, lighting and so forth hence there should be a

superior plan which perform above notice obligation with high exactness and for a more drawn-out time.

The design can be executed by dissecting the protection field dissemination at the external surface, the

semiconductor layer and best formed pressure cone. The fundamental factor which modifies the field

dispersion at the external of the conductor is conductivity, relative permittivity and the state of the

external planned pressure cone separator. Thusly, a substantial accentuation is required when managing

high voltages.
