Some other stakeholders who would need to be surveyed for a comprehensive schools

needs assessment would be parents, students, and members of the community. It is

important to communicate with the stakeholders throughout the budgeting process. By
doing this you convey a message that their needs and wants matter. Inclusion brings a
sense of togetherness and collaboration. It is also said that external stakeholders have
a critical role in sustaining improved outcomes. They have a long term vested interest in
the success of the schools and students. These are just a few reasons why a
productive, transparent, mission oriented partnership with stakeholders other than
teachers and staff is also important. Key data points such as existing Community
beliefs, expectations, values, strength, weaknesses and common priorities would have
to be gathered. Also, data on student performance, predicament of the school and its
district, availability of assets, if resources align with mission and vision of the school,
and where the capital is being spent would need to be collected. There also has to be a
break down of the cost of services. This input is needed in order to improve the
efficiency of school spending. In order to make sure this happens, a school leader
would create a budget that is aligned with the goals, mission, and vision of the school.
This input would also allow stakeholders to determine where the monies are being
allocated and areas that impede or support initiatives that support the goals. Once the
areas of priority have been identified, the budget can be altered accordingly.
