Process Map Exercise
1. Consider a tele-calling scenario, where you as a customer calls up a certain company for some enquiry for
some of their products using their customer care phone number. The telephone rings and if:
a. no one answers for over a minute, disconnect/terminate the call
b. If call is answered then check;
i. if it is a human on the other side, if not
ii. it is a machine (Automated Voice Recording) , then leave your message. If you decide to
leave your message, you need to record your message before disconnecting. If you do not
want to leave a message, disconnect the call.

Draw a process map to represent the above scenario.

2. MUJ academic rules mandates student academic registration at the beginning of every semester. The set of activities are
carried out by every department in the beginning of each semester. Many people playing different roles are involved in the
process. The process follows the academic rules and also observe the academic calendar for the purpose.
a. Write down in detail the academic registration process followed by each one of you at the beginning of every semester.
(current practice/process at MUJ)
b. Discuss in detail the shortcomings of the current process being followed at MUJ (both from student perspective and MUJ
administration perspective.)
c. Draw a Process Map of the academic registration process. (mention the details of every step followed in arriving at the
Process Map)
d. Find out the bottleneck activities after analysing the Process Map and come up with strategies to overcome those
bottlenecks in the process. (do the BPR)
