Course Objectives:
 To provide a theoretical and practical framework for understanding one self and human behaviour in the organizations
 To help the students to understand the basic processes and concepts of applied psychology at work place for better results.
 To develop insight of workplace and its relevance.

Prerequisites:
 The knowledge of psychology is important.

Course Contents / Syllabus:

The science of psychology, psychology and common sense, the beginnings of modern psychology,
psychology today, techniques, tactics and tools.

II Module II Brain and Behaviour 10%

Neurons, synapses, Nervous system and glands

III Module III Principles of cognitive process 10%


Cognitive psychology, adult learning Thinking,: thinking process, problem solving, decision making and creative
thinking, principles of learning and cognitive learning, memory models and amnesia , memory
IV Module IV : Emotions, stress and psychological well being. 20%

Expression and perception of emotions, Intelligence quotient, Emotional quotient, social quotient and spiritual
quotient, stress and stressors, psychological well being.

V Module V : Personality and social perception, influence and relationships 20%

Theories of personality, nature-nurture, impression formation, attribution, conformity, obedience and


interpersonal attraction.

VI Module VI: Motivation, job satisfaction and job involvement 20%

Content, processes, theories, quality of work life, job involvement and organizational commitment , motivation
with generation.

VII Module VII: Contemporary issues in work psychology 10%

Meaning of work, Positive psychology and its role in developing effective organizations, impact of personality on
work and work performance, Gender sensitivity, Organizational justice, Organizational misbehavior and
counterproductive work behaviour, Managing diversity and work life balance

Student Learning Outcomes:

 Analyze the learning about the implication of psychology in organization


 Evaluate in focusing on relevance of personality, emotional intelligence, gender issues, positive psychology and diversity.
 Create Insight to provide a useful guide to work life balance, spiritualism, learning and motivation.

Pedagogy for Course Delivery:


The class will be taught using theory and case based method.
In addition to assigning the case studies, The instructor will cover the ways to think innovatively liberally using thinking techniques.
