Sustainable Employment
In business ethics, the topic of 'sustainable employment' has become a significant concern.
Sustainable employment addresses the rights of workers in the workplace. As human beings, in
the economic sense, we contribute to long-term survival for workers. Employees can experience
stress in the workplace for a long time or it can be affected by their lifestyle, health & well-
being. The social aspect of globalization relates to this aspect. The problem of ecological
significance is sustainability. There are some companies in Bangladesh that create a working
atmosphere that is not ecologically sustainable. The three main ways in a philosophy of practice
we should fix the issues—
1. Re-Humanized Workplace: The rational way of organizing work has given us immense
efficiencies & material resources, also raising the prospect of a workplace that is dehumanized &
de-skilled. The impact of the workplace depends on a range of variables, including work
organization, managerial motivation and employee involvement. There have been several efforts
to make the workplace humanized. Which is the—
‘Empowering’ the employee- Working with other representatives & organizations gives
the employee the power to take action and make a decision.it increases trust, direct
communication & strategic delegation between employees & organizations.
Job enlargement- Job enlargement- That means that in their current work, an employee
can do different task. For example, a product manager is given the task of making an advertising
budget as a job enlargement process.
Job enrichment- Job enrichment- Employment enlargement is part of redesigning work.
Employment enrichment of a white-collar or highly qualified worker.
2. Wider Employment: It means the employee's experience or any memorable moment with the
organization. Employee activity in the organization. They communicate with the client, boss,
teams, policy, system & work environment of their organization. It may be both positive or
negative at a memorable time for the employee. For example, there are some employees who
earn promotions on the basis of their work each year & it's the employee's positive memorable
moment. There are employees, on the other hand, who work harder but do not get a promotional
basis for their work. For staff, it is a memorable negative moment. Nowadays, the work or
expertise of workers is not a priority for the organization. So, from the point of view of the
employee, the organization needs to see the role or experience of any employee.
3. Green Job: The environment is not ecofriendly in Bangladesh. Green jobs are areas that
develop environmentally friendly goods or are often more environmentally safe in the workplace
and organization of employees. Social, economic, and ecological benefits are possible benefits of
green employment. There are several businesses or industries in Bangladesh that practice green
jobs.
Such examples of such businesses with a Green Employment Practice scenario are:
The Bangladeshi Company-A manufactures different types of goods that are environmentally
friendly. The general manager of the production unit said that since the year 2000, the company
has been assembling environmentally friendly goods. The business produces bricks that are
optional for footpath and wall and roof pavement blocks. The manager also said that in
Bangladesh, the use of these environmentally-friendly goods is growing.
Another Bangladeshi Company-B, similar to Company-A, manufactures environmentally
friendly products such as wall tiles, floor tiles, and stair tiles. The company's executive director
claimed that the goods were produced using water treatment plants, resulting in less
environmental emissions. Such examples of Bangladeshi companies can claim that green
employment practices help to bring benefits such as less environmental damage, and employees
employed under these companies would be more encouraged to work in a sustainable manner.
Enable the economy to be greener and fairer. Investing in a green job to build a decent climate
for a healthy economy & good for individuals.
