Labeling Requirements Exclusions

Purpose: Use this job aid to learn about labeling requirements exclusions.

In addition to pipes and portable containers, nine substances are excluded from the labeling requirement:
pesticides that are labeled according to EPA requirements
substances labeled under the Food and Drug Administration
alcohol beverages labeled under the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms
consumer products labeled under the Consumer Product Safety Commission
hazardous waste as defined by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act
hazardous substances as defined by the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation,
and Liability Act
wood or wood products, including lumber that will not be processed, but excluding wood dust
ionizing and nonionizing radiation
biological hazards covered under the Bloodborne Pathogens standard
