1. 21st Century Literature makes me wonder of how things happen in the past.

It offers lots of
discoveries that can really help us students in our academic works. This subject teach us the
importance of studying literature. It was said that literature gives us good lessons to present
generation. Using the lessons that literature brings to us can help us to be a good citizen in our
respective communities.
Literature is a timeless piece of entertainment. As the innovations of technological
advancements have grown, the way we read has revolutionized and evolved. However, the
essence of storytelling and the effect it has on our lives hasn’t wavered.

Literature reflects human nature and a way we can learn and relate to others. By reading
through a first-person perspective, we can fully immerse ourselves into a different mindset and
figure out how others think and feel. This is important within today’s society as we’re becoming
increasingly detached from human interaction through iPhones, FaceTime, and social media.
Literature is something that will never change in the way it makes you feel, regardless of
whether that’s on paper or as an eBook.

This subject opened my mind to the realities of our world. We have learned many things using
the literatures of famous writers here in the Philippines and the world. Writers don’t write just
to make their own name in the field of writing but to inspire people in their success and story of
life. It is important to study our literature so that we can be able to know our past and learn
incredible insights from authors who made and write literatures. And reading literatures can
show what is in our past and how it greatly affects our present society. 
2. From all the stories that we have taken up, one of my most favorite is the Dead Star by Paz
Marquez Benitez. The story is about a man who’s uncertain of what he really wants and who’s
trapped in a decision of a lifetime that could change everything in his life. The account doesn't
only focus on the idea of love, but also, it exhibits how one conquers himself by understanding
his true feelings. Certainly, Alfredo was once in love with Esperanza but there are a lot of things
that has changed including his feelings towards her and that could be the reason why he also fell
in love with Julia. After reading the story, I realized that it is hard to fall in love between two
people because you are forced to sacrifice everything you’ve got. In my opinion, dead stars
pertain to a dream that doesn’t exist for the reason that Alfredo loves Julia but they can’t be
together because of some society circumstances.  Indeed, it gave us an idea that we should not
expect too much and time has its own way of changing a person’s life. I find the story cliché
because most of the short story written before was somehow have the same plot. Even though
the literary piece was written in the past, it somehow depicts the modern society because it
provides us the similar information of what is happening in the lives of many people. The story is
a collection of complex situations that every man has to go through in life. As the story goes, you
will be more enticed to read it further because the exchange of heart-warming words that could
really inspire a lot of people.
3. I can relate to a poem “Is it the Kingfisher?” by Marjorie Evasco for me is about a person who is
spiritually praying and found herself in peace by observing the greatness beauty of the island
where she was on. I also come up with the idea that she thinks that God was a kingfisher and
she describe God as blue as the kingfishers’ color, this made me think that it is one of the
reasons why is it entitled “Is it the Kingfisher?”. Also, because as what had happened to me in
the past, I’ve been into a lot of trouble. I become a bastard in all ways, I’ve become a black ship
in my family. But I found myself crying one night, realizing what have I done with my life. I
started to do good things. The very first person that accepts me is my family and there I started
to find myself again. I also called God praying, and asking His forgiveness. Then on, I started to
find my inner peace with the help of my family and of course with the power of prayer.
