BARANGAY PROFILE OF ALEGRIA

Alegria was founded by a Christian Pioneering named Casiano Letigio from Alegria,
Cebu in 1949. They derived from Cebuano word “alegre” w/c means joy/happiness
because of the different birds’ species all over the place. Some of it was migratory.
The Christian Pioneers were Casiano Letigio, Lazaro Sabellano,
Anastacio Hayumpa, Marcelino Medina, Pedro Nacrea, and Bonifacio Jamio. The
Blaan pioneers were Pandian Walok,
Pandaman Kingkong, Balatok Kayuna, Panganan, Datu Lawa, Gulada Mangcal. 
The Kalagan Pioneers were Yuba, Masayao, and Salimama.
Alegria is a barangay in the municipality of Alabel, in the province of Sarangani.
Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 7,848. This represented
9.77% of the total population of Alabel.

is 5 to 9, with 959 individuals. Conversely, the age group with the lowest
population is 80 and over, with 39 individuals.

The population of Alegria grew from 5,901 in 1990 to 7,848 in 2015, an increase of
1,947 people. The latest census figures in 2015 denote a positive growth rate of
0.22%, or an increase of 92 people, from the previous population of 7,756 in 2010.

Alegria is situated at approximately 6.1659, 125.3149, in the island of Mindanao.
Elevation at these coordinates is estimated at 231.5 meters or 759.5 feet above
mean sea level.
