Application for Equity Risk Analyst/Manager position at EIF
Dear EIF Recruitment Team,
hereby I apply to the Equity Risk Analyst/Manager position in the Luxembourg office. In 2021 I will obtain my MBA from MIP Politecnico di Milano. An MBA is something for which I developed a special interest while doing my bachelor’s degree, then, during my career, I met a lot of people with this qualification and I noticed that all these individuals had a common trait: being able to comprehend the most complicated things, dissect them and reduce them to the most basic terms. This is something that no other business program teaches and that I have always admired. I started my career in the Alternative Investments office of Intesa Sanpaolo Vita, where I was the only person ever to be hired before graduating. In this office I was directly in charge of executing due diligence on Private Equity, Private Debt and Listed Credit investment opportunities on a global scale and of monitoring an important investment portfolio. At the time we were the first office in Italy that was extensively investing in Alternative Investments without the support of any advisor and we were in direct contact with the senior managers of the most prominent global investment firms. After almost four years, at the start of 2019, I was asked to take part to the startup of a new division of Intesa Sanpaolo, acting as an internal advisor to supervise and coordinate all activities insisting on a € 1.5 bn internal guarantee fund and particular bespoke operations that needed a robust feasibility study and/or presented a high level of complexity. I had the chance to work on and be in charge of big strategic projects that were really innovative in terms of characteristics and structure, gaining a much broader view on the whole market. Both these experiences were great because I was given big responsibilities from the first day and I had the opportunity to interact with a lot of internal and external C-level executives and see many different companies and scenarios, giving me the possibility to growth fast both as a professional and as a person, but if I have to choose between the two, I would always choose investments and I left my heart there. During my experience in Alternative Investments, I encountered on some occasions EIF people that like me were there to perform due diligences or to monitor investments during Limited Partners Advisory Committees or specific events. I found them to be good and prepared professionals and nice people. This impression was once again confirmed when I recently had the chance to speak with an EIF’s manager. This, alongside the big respect I have for EIF and EIB, is a key point for me as I really value collaboration, intellectual curiosity and the pursuit of excellence. Also, I’m resilient and good at handling stress and work under pressure. I learned what it means to be resilient and to cope with pressure and stress since when I was in university. During the second year I did my curricular internship in Fondazione Arnoldo Mondadori, but then I saw a great opportunity in Intesa Sanpaolo and decided to take it anyway, knowing that this would have meant to basically study at night for a whole semester while also doing my thesis. The situation was a lot worsened by the fact than my mother had a quite serious health problem for which she was even hospitalized for some time. Anyway, I managed to graduate in time. This is why, when I think about my MSc, I’m proud to have been able to manage a lot of stress and still being able to obtain what I wanted. I would be glad for an opportunity to introduce myself to you in an interview. This position would be a great opportunity for me and I trust that I would become a valuable addition to your team. With kind regards, Alessandro Berganton
