ESTEFANIA MONTEMAYOR NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID (PFA) TRAINING

October 7, 2020

A Narrative Report
Rationale

The start of School Year 2020-2021 is a formidable task for everyone; the
Department of Education with its effort to pursue education accessible for everyone is
trying its best to set faculty and staff by supporting intervention in the immediate
aftermath of pandemic.

With this presumption, Estefania Montemayor National High School has allotted
a one – day Psychological First Aid (PFA) Training for all faculty and staff on October 7,
2020 at the school gym following the IATF health protocols in conducting the said
training. The school had prepared activities and sessions with the faculty and staff to
reduce stress as a result of a pandemic, to promote emotional well-being and, to
prevent psychological/ mental problems.

Leonisa F.Ferrer, the designated Guidance Counselor, facilitated the PFA

training. The training started with a prayer then a quick survey on how the pandemic
affected the faculty and staff to know if they are stressed or not.

The first session comes with the discussion of the Impact of Pandemic to
Individuals in order for them to be aware of the situation. After that, the concept of
Psychological Support and the importance of Psychological First Aid had been
discussed.

Shortly, after the discussion of the salient points of PFA training, the
Psychosocial Support begins. The ideas that were discussed are the suggestions that
may help in managing your stress, suggestions that may help to your own recovery, and
other ways of taking care of yourself to maintain resiliency - adapting positive thoughts,
eating healthy foods, exercising and breath control or meditating.

At around 3 pm, to conclude the training, the faculty and staff shared their
feelings towards the PFA training conducted.
