RE: Genesee County Health Department Updates Genesee County

Residents on COVID-19 Vaccination Prioritization and Progress

The Genesee County Health Department (GCHD) is currently vaccinating people in

the 1A phase of distribution, which are those individuals working in healthcare facilities as well
as residents of long-term care facilities (nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted
living facilities). Preparations have also been made to begin Phase 1B vaccinations as soon
as the vaccine becomes available. This group includes persons who are 65 years of age and
older, and essential workers in critical infrastructure, (including workers such as teachers,
childcare workers, food and agricultural workers, critical manufacturing workers, workers in
congregate settings).
There is no definitive timeline on when the next shipment of vaccinations will be
received by the state or distributed to the local public health departments. As the supplies of
vaccine are going to be limited for at least the next several months, there is currently not
enough vaccine for everyone in Phase 1B to be vaccinated at the same time.

and updates regarding COVID-19 vaccination. We urge residents to fill out the registration
form prior to their appointment at the vaccination sites as this will keep lines moving as quickly
as possible. We will continue to post updates for Genesee County residents and employers
about vaccine availablitiy as we receive additional doses.
