ORGANIZATIONAL BHAVIOUR CASE STUDY

Question 1.Type of organization design Recommended

The organization should employ contemporary organizational designs. The design would
enhance communication, inspire innovation and increase productivity for the company. This is
because the contemporary design includes team structure, project structure and a learning
organization thus forming a boundary less organization. During the first phase, the organization
discovered that it was positioned along classic bureaucratic lines. An organization built on
bureaucratic lines dumps new ideas and slows down operational tasks of companies.
Bureaucracy in the company was also accompanied by endless paperwork, lack of a decision
making authority. The contemporary organizational design would immediately get rid of this
ridiculousness within the company and clear the frustrations of competitive disadvantage, low
sells, and losses within the company.

The contemporary design would also enhance flexibility risk management strategies be
embraced within the uncertain, rapidly growing and highly dynamic environment. This would be
possible as the contemporary design allows innovation, including technological innovation,
learning and research opportunities (Thompson, 2017).  This allows the company employs new
technologies which improve their production and advertisement platforms thus gaining a larger
customer base and competitive advantage over rival companies as well. Most performance and
productivity issues of any specified organization are attributed to poor designs within
organizations.

Question 2.Do you think Jake was correct in his suggestion of how the task force should
proceed?

Yes, Jake was very correct on his suggestion. The first step to a successful organization is
a strong organizational structure and the opposite is also true. Organizational structures act as
guidelines to employees by stating their official relationships governing workflow within
companies. New positions can also be added if a formal organization structure exists and it
creates possible and flexible means for growth and expansion of the company (Church &
Waclawski, 2017). Without a well-stated organization structure, employees find it difficult to
know who to report to in the diverse situations of company operations and responsibility is also
not clear. By reviewing the organizational structure as suggested by Jake, the company would
increase its efficiency as there is clarity and responsibility is defined too.

Jake also suggests that the company determine the environment of the company. This is
very important during production decision making as the company will ensure that it clearly
understands the needs of its target consumers. By so doing, product specialization will be
achieved and more sales would be achieved by the company. Most importantly, the company
will be able to operate in accordance with the ethics and expectations of the local neighborhood
thus minimizing possible instances of conflict.

Question 3.Type of problems arising as byproducts of the recommendations in question 1

The contemporary organizational designs are highly recommended in the current business
environment however, they also pose various negative effects to the specified organization. For
instance, the embracement of the new design in Jack’s company will be accompanied by
intensive costs. The design requires that each unit of the organization to have a leader in whom
responsibility is bestowed upon. The new positions in the company are costly as the leaders are
also paid.

The new designs may also cause de-motivation to employees. The junior employees may
feel left behind by the senior managers in charge thus causing the employee productivity and
human resource productivity in general reduces (Prause, 2015).Decision making may also be
slowed once the contemporary design is employed in Jack's company. The people in charge or
the team leaders have to make decisions before the continuation of a task this slows decision
making and ultimately the overall production on the organization.
