The concept for a building design was inspired by the kalesa, a traditional horse-drawn carriage in the Philippines that has become an icon of Ilocos heritage. The design incorporates elements of the kalesa's roof pattern and wheels into the building's roof and facade louvers to pay homage to the popular transportation of the Spanish colonial era that remains a tourist attraction.

Kalesa is a popular way of transportation during the spanish era in the
philippines up until now. The kalesa have been made one of the icons for the heritage region of Ilocos. It is undeniably a crowd-pleasing transportation especially for travelers who tour the different tourists spots of the province. With this view of the kalesa, it has greatly inspired the design of my main building. I followed the pattern of the roofing element of the kalesa with the form of my roof. I also incorporated in the facade of my building the figure of the wheels of the kalesa and configured it as a louver.
