In the exam the essay will always be written for the teacher. Your essay should answer the question given by addressing
two content points which are given, plus another content point of your own. The essay should be well organised, with an
introduction and a strong conclusion. It should be well written in a semi formal register. This means you can use
contractions, but not too many. In the introduction you should state the purpose of the essay and the points you are
going to consider. In the conclusion you should include a summary and express your opinion on the topic.
Below is some advice for writing essays. Complete the advice using the options below.
You should:
1. Keep all your ideas and opinions relevant to the question
2. Use connecting words and phrases
3. Use the essay question to help you plan
4. Only give your opinion in the final paragraph
5. Use longer versions of basic phrases (I strongly believe NOT I believe)
