1 John 5: 17

Without Assurance of salvation, people's minds and consciences are never at rest. And without
Assurance of Salvation, people cannot establish themselves in this new phase and new realm
that God has brought them into.

One specialty of the enemy/the accuser is to keep reminding people that they are not saved.

God wants us to be assured of our salvation - 1 John 5: 13

Ways we can know that we are saved. (Assurance)

1. The (unbroken) Word of God; an outward evidence that we're saved. God's word is inspired
of Him - 2 Timothy 3: 16
John 3: 16, Acts 16: 31, 1 John 5: 11 - 13, **Romans 10: 9 & 10
We are a faith people and have been called to walk by faith. Faith honour the Qord of God
above every other thing.

2. The Witness of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit dwelling within our spirit helps us to know that we
are saved. Romans 8: 16 - The inward witness of the spirit in us confirms we are saved, 1 John 5:

3. Love of the Brethren

1 John 3: 14
As long as a man is in Christ, he's eternally saved.

The reason why people are not assured of their salvation and preachers preach the way they do,
is because they have lifted verses out of their context.

One of the best ways to understand the Bible is to look at things in context, who was being
spoken to, and know who what is being said to (what was being said).

Why we can be assured of God's salvation (security)

1. Salvation was God's idea
Ephesians 1: 4 & 5, John 15: 17, Romans 8: 29 & 30

2. Jesus has obtained eternal redemption for us Hebrews 9: 12

3. God's love and God's Grace are eternal. Jeremiah 31: 3. God's love for us never ends, He even
loves the sinner in hell. The reason the sinner is in hell is because he rejected the love of God.
John 6: 27 (Whoever comes to Me I will in no wise cast out)

4. We have become God's children. We have been born again. No true Christian can commit the
unpardonable sin. John 1: 12 & 13

5. We have been saved by God's righteousness. Righteousness and Justice are the foundation of
His throne - Psalm 89: 14
Salvation is legally mine because the Son paid for it.

6. Salvation cannot be lost. John 10: 28 & 29 - And I give them eternal life and they shall never
perish, we are in our Father's hands so our salvation cannot be snatched/plucked from our
hands.

Hebrews 6: 8
*Sin numbs our Spiritual senses. It opens people up to demons. What causes man to lose
salvation is renouncing Jesus. Sin is deceitful. Sin doesn't change God's liberty for us but it
hardens us. Hebrews 3: 13
Faith has no song in broken Fellowship.

▪︎Our salvation is like a rock that cannot be shaken, but the joy of our salvation is like a tender
plant that can be blown away easily. Sometimes our joy dries up as if our salvation doesn't exist.
Psalm 51

Things that can sustain/ determine the joy of our salvation

1. Stay clear off sin #Isaiah 59: 1 - His hands are not too short to save but it's our sin that
separates us.
2. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit #Ephesians 4: 30
3. The Word of God (Thy words were found) - Jeremiah 15: 16
4. Prayer (Ask and receive that your joy may be full)
5. Fellowship with believers
