OBE COURSE SYLLABUS

Course Title: College Algebra


Credit: 3 units

A. Course Description:
Algebra is the language of science and technology that provides a foundation upon which higher mathematics is built. Contents of which include the real number
system, algebraic expressions, rational expressions, radicals, the coordinate system, functions and relations, solutions of equations associated with word problems,
inequalities, exponential and logarithmic functions, and variations and progressions.

At the end of the semester, education students are expected to:


1. Define, give examples, and perform the fundamental operations on sets and real numbers.
2. Add, subtract, multiply, divide, and factor algebraic expressions.
3. Solve linear and quadratic equations and inequalities.
4. Solve word problems involving equations and inequalities.
5. Identify relations which are functions.
6. Determine the domain, range, inverse and graph of a given function.
7. Solve exponential and logarithmic functions.
8. Recognize arithmetic and geometric progressions.
