Changes to the Average Monthly Billing program will be
effective with your next bill. Your bill will list your Average
Monthly Billing amount as well as the amount you would
owe if not on the program.
If your account is currently past due, the total past
due amount will be added to your Average Monthly
Billing amount and must be paid in full in order
to enroll in the Average Monthly Billing program.
Average Monthly Billing will be discontinued if:
• You close your account
• Your service is turned off for non-payment
If your Average Monthly Billing is discontinued, any
outstanding balance owed, including the deferred balance,
will be due with your next bill. Any credit due to you will be
applied to your next bill or refunded. A deferred payment
agreement may be available to qualifying customers for an
outstanding deferred balance.

How Average Monthly Billing works
• Your Average Monthly Billing payment amount is based on
the average dollar amount of your last 12 months’ bills plus
one-twelfth of your deferred balance, credit or debit.
• Your average amount will fluctuate slightly each month
based on the preceding 12 months’ energy usage and
seasonal changes in natural gas prices.
• The difference between what you are billed each month
and your actual usage will be kept in a deferred balance.
This amount can be a debit or credit amount depending
on the time of year. You can view your deferred balance
on your monthly bill in the “Because you’re on Average
Monthly Billing” section on page two of your bill.
• If you elect to remove yourself from this program,
you may have a balance due, particularly if your account
is removed during the summer months. The balance will
be your deferred balance plus any current charges due.
• You may remove your account from Average Monthly Billing
at any time by notifying us.

If you are an AutoPay customer, your Average Monthly Billing amount will not appear
on your bill. You may still enroll in Average Monthly Billing online at ­
CenterPointEnergy.com/MyAccount or by calling the number on your bill.
