Why is hazard considered a threat?

Hazard considered a threat because a hazard is a situation that poses a


level of threat to life, health, property, or environment. Most hazards are
dormant or potential, with only theoretical risk of harm however once a hazard
becomes active, it can create an emergency. Hazard causes panic, fear or even
anxiety to people because hazard can damage properties and even life.
What are the key concepts in classifying hazards?
The key concept in classifying hazard is the existence of stored energy that
can occur in many forms which are the chemical, thermal, radioactive, electrical,
etc. Another class of hazard does not involve release of stored energy rather it
involves the existence of hazardous situation such as confined or limited egress
spaces, oxygen depleted atmospheres, awkward positions repetitive motions, and
low-hanging or protruding objects.
