consider the subject of the In­
carnation—the birth of Jesus,
the p r e e x i s t e n c e of Jesus, the
D e i t y of Jesus, the humanity of
Jesus, the object of His c o m i n g .
T o o many t i m e s , folks s i m p l y
look at the physical side of it
and talk about His being born as
a little babe when actually He
p r e e x i s t e d with the Father f r o m
the beginning.
HIS P R E E X I S T E N C E
JOHN 1:1
1 In the beginning was the W o r d , and the
Word was with God, and the Word was God.
T h i s Being, c a l l e d Emmanuel
(God with u s ) , Jesus the Christ,
the W o r d — t h i s Being who b e ­
c a m e Incarnate, had a separate
e x i s t e n c e p r e v i o u s to His c o m ­
ing to the e a r t h . He existed f r o m
the beginning—in eternity. T h i s
Eternal One was with God, with
Him in fellowship and purpose,
working with H i m . God made the
w o r l d s through Him ( H e b r e w s
1:2).
C h r i s t , while He is facing
c r u c i f i x i o n , r e c a l l s the g l o r y
which He had with the Father b e ­
f o r e the w o r l d was (John 17:3-5).
The Bible plainly teaches us that
He e x i s t e d f r o m all e t e r n i t y .
 The e n t i r e Gospel of John i s
based upon the fact that Jesus
had a p r e v i o u s e x i s t e n c e with
the Father and that while He was
walking the earth He r e m e m ­
bered His e x p e r i e n c e s in the
other w o r l d and spoke to the F a ­
ther of these e x p e r i e n c e s and of
when He would go back and take
up life again with the F a t h e r .
In M i c a h we read a r e m a r k ­
able prophetic utterance of the
p r e e x i s t e n c e of C h r i s t and of
His coming to the earth.
MICAH 5:2
2 But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though
thou be little among the thousands of Judah,
yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me
that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings
forth have been from of old, from ever­
lasting.
H e r e One is going to be born of
the f a m i l y of Judah to be r u l e r
in I s r a e l and His goings forth
have been f r o m old, f r o m e v e r ­
lasting. He has t r a v e l e d up and
down through the e t e r n i t i e s and
has left His footprints on the

JOHN 1:14

us. He made His home among us
and we beheld the g l o r y of G o d .
C o l o s s i a n s 1:15 says that He was
the i m a g e of the i n v i s i b l e God.
When Christ became man in
the Incarnation, He became man
for e t e r n i t y . He did not assume
humanity as a garment to be
worn for 33 y e a r s and then cast
off and laid a s i d e . He became
man to be a man f o r e v e r . Today
at the F a t h e r ' s right hand there
is a man in heaven as a result of
the Incarnation.
I TIMOTHY 2:5
5 For there is one God, and one mediator
between God and men, the man Christ
Jesus.
The fact that it was possible for
Deity and Humanity to b e c o m e
united in one individual for e t e r ­
nity r e v e a l s the place the f i r s t
man, A d a m , held in God the F a ­
t h e r ' s plan. He had c r e a t e d
Adam in His own i m a g e - - j u s t a
shade l o w e r than H i m s e l f . Man
had been c r e a t e d so nearly like
God that it was p o s s i b l e for God
and man to b e c o m e united e t e r ­
nally in one individual. God can
dwell in these human bodies of
ours. God can impart His life
and nature to our spirits and
dwell in our human b o d i e s .
T H E O B J E C T OF HIS COMING
MATTHEW 1:21
21 And she shall bring forth a son and
thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he
shall save his people from their sins.
It has been our tendency, when
we think of Christ coming to the
earth as a man, to d w e l l upon His
s e l f - d e n i a l — H i s sufferings in
coming to earth f r o m G l o r y . Y e t
as we know H i m better, we b e ­
l i e v e that it was a joy to Him who
so loved man and so d e s i r e d his
fellowship to dwell on earth a-
mong men that He might g i v e to
alienated man, who had never
known his C r e a t o r , a true con­
ception of H i m .
How c l e a r l y C h r i s t r e v e a l e d
and appreciated this phase of
His m i s s i o n . John said of H i m ,
" N o man has seen God at any
t i m e ; the only begotten Son,
which is in the bosom of the F a ­
ther, he hath d e c l a r e d him."
(John 1:18)
How different was His life
f r o m the l i v e s of the greatest
philosophers and t e a c h e r s of
r e l i g i o n who c a m e before H i m .
T h e y had c o m e as s e e k e r s of the
truth, He c a m e as the revelation
of the truth. He said, " I am the

So much is happening in these days... the
Lord is moving among His people in mar­

Faith doesn't c o m e by just
reading the W o r d . Of c o u r s e you
have to r e a d the W o r d , to feed
on it, or you cannot speak it.
But faith doesn't c o m e by just
reading it. Faith c o m e s by
speaking it!
Faith c o m e s by your speak­
ing the W o r d . Faith c o m e s by
your hearing y o u r s e l f speak it.
When you speak it you hear it
with your inner e a r . It isn't e -
nough to hear somebody e l s e
say. "by His s t r i p e s I am h e a l ­
ed." T h a t ' s good. But what a r e
you hearing y o u r s e l f say? If
y o u ' r e not saying, "with His
stripes I am healed," then faith
isn't c o m i n g from that portion
of God's W o r d to you. Y o u ' v e
got to speak it so you can hear
it. T h a t ' s why the w o r d rhema
is h e r e . Faith c o m e s by your
hearing y o u r s e l f say, "with His
s t r i p e s I am healed."
EPHESIANS 6:17
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and
the sword of the Spirit, which is the word
(rhema) of God:
Rhema is the s w o r d of the
Spirit in Ephesians 6:17! It's
not enough just to c a r r y the
book. Through the y e a r s w e ' v e
said, " B e sure to bring your
sword next Sunday," r e f e r r i n g
to our B i b l e s . And that's all
right, but i t ' s not actually t r u e .
It is not a s w o r d for you until
you take it and speak it! You
don't c a r r y it! You speak it!

JOHN 15:7
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide
in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it
shall be done unto you.
Do you know why it isn't a
sword in most p e o p l e ' s hands?
I t ' s because they don't know it
well enough to speak it.
P e o p l e go to church all their
l i v e s and c a r r y their B i b l e s ,
some even teach Sunday School,
they hear what the p r e a c h e r
p r e a c h e s - - b u t the W o r d of God
is not r e a l l y abiding in them.
And they can't ask what they w i l l
and it shall be done unto them.
And they don't have the abiding
w o r d . T h e abiding word is not
l o g o s - - i t is rhema.
T h e Christian i s clothed with
defensive a r m o r . But the only
O F F E N S I V E W E A P O N that the
Christian has is the s w o r d of the
Spirit, which is the W o r d (the
Rhema) of God. (See Eph. 6:17.)
W e know about the Book, e -
nough to argue about it, and to
debate i t . But we don't k n o w e -
nough to quote it and speak i t .
A s a result you see v e r y few
Christians with o p e r a t i v e faith.
And Jesus said, "When the Son
of man cometh shall he find
faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:18).
HEBREWS l:2-3a
2 (God) hath in these last days spoken unto
us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir
of all things, by whom also he made the
worlds;
3 Who being the brightness of his glory,
and the express image of his person, and
upholding all things by the word (rhema) of
his power,
HEBREWS 11:3
3 Through faith we understand that the
worlds were framed by the word (rhema)
of God, so that things which are seen were
not made of things which do appear.
E v e r y t h i n g that was c r e a t e d was
not only spoken into being, but it
is held tnere by the power of the
spoken W o r d of God—the Rhema
of God, which is the sharp t w o -
edged s w o r d , not in your hand
folks, but in your mouth. That
i s why in the book of Revelation
the Holy Spirit put the sword
w h e r e it ought to be:
REVELATION 1:16
16 And he (the Son of man) had in his right
hand seven stars: and out of his mouth
went a sharp two-edged sword....
W e need to i n c r e a s e our v o ­
cabulary in the W o r d of God. It
w i l l make a new person out of
you. It w i l l change your l i f e . It
w i l l make you a different person
f r o m what your parents made
you. You a r e a product of four
generations of genes in your
s y s t e m . Some of those genes
a r e working against you bringing
p r e m a t u r e death. When you b e ­
gin to speak G o d ' s W o r d and to
quote any portion of God's W o r d
— i f y o u ' l l say it and b e l i e v e it
long enough—you w i l l r e l e a s e
within your bloodstream, within
your physical body C R E A T I V E
P O W E R . And that c r e a t i v e p o w ­
e r w i l l , if n e c e s s a r y , r e a r r a n g e
the g e n e s .
You don't need to die p r e m a ­
turely like grandma, o r m o m . o r
dad, o r great grandpa did. You
don't need all the things you in­
herited--because you've been
born again! But the reason it
doesn't work for most people is
they don't talk like their new
Father talks. T h e y don't c a r r y
on the conversation of their new
Heavenly Father. T h e y ' r e still
talking like their mom and dad
and grandpa did--and if they
keep talking like they talked,
t h e y ' l l die like they died, and
suffer like they suffered. But
when we begin to speak the
rhema of God. we r e l e a s e in and
through us C R E A T I V E P O W E R !
Be careful not to defeat e v ­
erything you b e l i e v e by letting
your mouth speak unbelief. B e ­
gin to r e l e a s e the word of faith--

He r e v e a l e d the C r e a t o r to
be a God of l o v e , a holy God who
could be approached. Publicans
and sinners d r e w near to H i m
and w e r e pleased to sit and eat
with H i m . T h e y w e r e n ' t afraid
of His holiness, they w e r e drawn
by His l o v e . Children sat upon
His knee.
H e r e was One who showed by
His life and w o r d s what the v e r y
heart in back of the u n i v e r s e is
l i k e . W e now know His attitude
toward us because He dwelt a-
mong us as a man. God is like
C h r i s t . T h e heart of the C r e a ­
tor is like the heart that broke on
the c r o s s .
The object of the Incarnation
was that man might be given the
right to b e c o m e a child of God
(John 1:12).
Man could only b e c o m e a
child of God by r e c e i v i n g the na­
ture of God, t h e r e f o r e C h r i s t
c a m e that man might r e c e i v e E-
ternal L i f e (John 10:10). Man
could r e c e i v e Eternal L i f e only
after he had been l e g a l l y r e ­
d e e m e d f r o m Satan's authority
( C o l . 1:13-14).
G e n e s i s chapter 3 g i v e s us
A d a m ' s sin of high treason and
R o m . 5:12-21 r e v e a l s that the
human r a c e has been identified
with Adam in his t r a n s g r e s s i o n .
Death entered Adam and passed
upon all men; physical death,
spiritual death, the nature of
Satan.
W e w e r e identified with A d ­
am. Christ c a m e and took upon
H i m s e l f m a n ' s sinful nature. He
identified H i m s e l f with m a n ' s
sin nature. That is the object
of His c o m i n g .
If the lordship of Satan o v e r
the human r a c e was due to the
identification of humanity with
Adam and his c r i m e of high
treason, it is l e g a l l y p o s s i b l e
for the w o r k s of Satan to be d e ­
s t r o y e d by the identification of
the human r a c e with the Son of
God, the second A d a m .
T h e r e v e l a t i o n that Paul r e ­
c e i v e d in II C o r . 5:21 is that God
actually made Him to b e c o m e
sin for us. He not only b o r e our
sins out the sin-nature itself
was laid upon H i m until He b e ­
c a m e all that spiritual death had
made m e n . In the mind of God
it is not C h r i s t who hung on the
c r o s s but it is the human r a c e .
So, each one of us may say with
Paul, " I was crucified with
Christ."
The following passage is a
d i r e c t translation from the H e ­
b r e w into English as taken from
the Jewish B i b l e :
ISAIAH 53:4-6,8
4 Surely, our diseases he did bare and our
pains he carried; Whereas we did esteem
him stricken and smitten of God and af­
flicted
5 but he was wounded for our transgres­
sions, he was crushed because of our ini­
quities, the chastisement of our welfare
was upon him and with his stripes we were
healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray, and
the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us
all.
8 By oppression and judgment, he was
taken away and as for his generation who
did reason, and he was caught up out of the
land of the living for the transgression of
thy people to whom the stroke was due.
The judgment, the stroke, was
due man, but it f e l l upon Him
because they had b e c o m e one.
He died under our judgment and
we died with H i m . He paid our
penalty.
MATTHEW 1:21
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and
thou Shalt call his name JESUS: for he
shall save his people from their sins.
T h e Incarnation is the basic
p r i n c i p l e of Christianity. E v e r y
man who has e v e r been born a-
gain is an incarnation. The b e ­
l i e v e r is just as much an i n c a r ­
nation as Jesus of Nazareth.
God can now e r a d i c a t e spiritual
death from the spirit of man and
g i v e man His L i f e because the
c l a i m of justice has been met
in C h r i s t .
