The role of a geographer to the development of Kigali city.

Geographers are scientists who study the Earth and the distribution of its land, features, and
inhabitants. They also examine political or cultural structures and study the physical and human
geographic characteristics of regions ranging in scale from local to global. In this essay we will
talk about geographers in Kigali city, a capital city in Rwanda located in African continent.

First of all, geographers are the ones who mapped Kigali city means they are map makers and
this has a great importance because people can be able to locate it from anywhere on the
world.
Secondly, they are the ones in charge of making Kigali’s master plans for it to be improved on
the higher standard and to get on the best level in the new vision for example Kigali had a
master plan of 2020 and by that year they made a new master plan for 2050 which is updated
by now and indicating the vision of Kigali in 2050.

Also geographers are political and technical leaders of Kigali focusing on the development and
design of land use and the built environment including air, water and the infrastructure passing
into and out of Kigali such as communication, transportation, distribution network and their
accessibility.
The other role of a geographer is to identify the contributions which the subject can make, to encourage
research which can demonstrate that their approaches can be appropriate to the solution of large-scale
problems, and to increase the dialogue between the profession and those who make and implement
official policy in Kigali city. 

The last thing is that a geographer is responsible for working on climate change adaptation,
which also has to do with uncertainties and future variability.  It's a broad set of work about
adapting to long-term changes, managing Kigali city and ecosystems, and dealing with
disasters.

By concluding we may say that geographers are of great importance to the development of
Kigali through all those mentioned points such as map makers of Kigali city, political leaders of
Kigali, master planners of Kigali,working on climate and many more other roles that develop
Kigali city.
