Scholars and experts define global citizenship as a way of life that acknowledges that

the world is an inherently dynamic network of interdependence and connections, the world

where the decisions and behaviours may affect individuals and cultures internationally,

nationally or locally. Global citizenship fosters and inspires people to think profoundly and

objectively about what is just and equal and what minimizes damage to the world (Mansouri

et al., 2017). Exploring global citizenship concepts makes learners more secure in speaking

up for their values and more experienced in determining the ethics and effects of their

actions.

The people in the Philippines, Pangasinan firmly believe that, amid diversity in the

practice of religion, a peaceful partnership that brings harmony among individuals is possible

if each person sees themselves as a global citizen with corresponding social obligations.

Philippines, Pangasinan have been in the frontline of global citizenship. First, they have a

global education system that has given rise to graduates that understand that the future is not

constrained to their locality, but views the world as their playground. Besides, most

Philippines can speak two languages. Secondly, Philippines, Pangasinan accommodates

people from the different local culture. They take care of all their customers and visitors,

making them feel comfortable and at home. Lastly, people in the Philippines, Pangasinan are

very skilled and adaptive. They are talented in various industries and can work in different

conditions, including places with high temperature, freezing temperatures or in the middle of

the desert.

Other alternatives that can help maintain the national orientation of Philippines,

Pangasinan international engagements and commitments is establishing the alternative

learning system which delivers education services to vulnerable groups and out-of-school

youths (Halisçelik & Soytas, 2019). Besides, they should adopt inclusive business models by

providing jobs to disadvantaged communities and promote partnership and mentorship

between large and small businesses. Moreover, they should aspire to minimize inequality.

They should make interventions for disadvantaged families such as reserving employment for

individuals with disabilities or offer support fund to less privileged families. Lastly, the

Philippines, Pangasinan should offer risk information to improve adaptive capacity. They

should offer timely climate information for disaster readiness.
