Description: Mock up for fan GI duct work at C5.

Comments:
1. This inspection have been performed upon contractor request for the mentioned
segment as sample of duct installation ,as the inspected duct system components (fire
rated gasket , fire rated sealant, support and hangers) are not received and inspected in
approved MIR; final inspection of this segment will be performed after considering
approved MIR.

2. The proposed gage18 - G90 galvanized sheet material accepted as construction material
for non-coated fire rated duct according to IMC international mechanical code, IBC
International Building Code and IFC International Fire Code

3. The fire rated duct shall be furnished as follow to be comply with integrity test
according to BS 476 Part 24, for 2 hours.
A. Size range in width or height 0 to 1000 mm.
B. Standard Straight duct Length: 1220 mm maximum.
 C. Sheet thickness 1.20 mm galvanized steel.
D. Beading at a distance of 305 mm maximum.
E. Aspect ratio of duct should not exceed 1:4.
F. Galvanized steel rivet 4.8 mm or spot weld at a distance of 150 mm.
G. Transverse joint: Flange of 20 mm profile for 0-400mm duct, 30mm profile for 401-
1000mm.
H. G-clamp: 160 mm for the first two clamps closer to the corners & 150 mm for the
rest.
I. Sealant: Fire Rated Sealant at longitudinal joint and at the corners.
J. Gasket: Fire Rated Gasket at transverse joint.
K. Drop rod: 10 mm.
L. Hangers
 Duct 0-400 L Angle 40mm x 40mm x 4mm @ 1.2m distance, or C chancel with
equivalent momentum load.
 Duct 401-600 L Angle 40mm x 40mm x 5mm @ 1.2m distance, or C chancel with
equivalent momentum load.
 Duct 601-800 L Angle 50mm x 50mm x 5mm @ 1.2m distance, or C chancel with
equivalent momentum load.
 Duct 801-1000 L Angle 60mm x 60mm x 6mm @ 1.2m distance, or C chancel with
equivalent momentum load.
4. Rod 8mm is accepted for the installed make up air fire rated duct within cellars
(6th- 4th ) as exceptional case subject to demonstrate that the maximum
distance between hangers doesn’t exceed 1.0m. (As the hangers rod head
already installed and coordinated with post tension rods at 8 mm rod size).

5. All fire rated duct construction material, components and ancillaries must be
approved by the Local Civil Defense Authority, Final fire rated duct approval is
subject to CDD approval.
