How four situations of EAP are applicable in Pakistan??

English For Academic purpose (EAP)

The demand of English for Academic Purpose (EAP) is expanding not
just in those nations where English is utilized as mother tongue, but
likewise in numerous different nations where the students need to
receive English as a mode of guidance for advanced education.
In our country Pakistan, English is the vehicle of guidance at more
elevated level in practically all the universities.
Four types of EAP situations
Situations in which EAP is taught

1. In English-speaking country

2. In English as a Second-Language (ESL) situation

3. A situation in which certain subjects are taught in English.

4. A situation where all subject courses are taught in the national

languge.
1.In English-speaking country:
First situation of English for Academic Purpose (EAP) is not
applicable in Pakistan because Pakistan is not an English speaking
country. Here English is spoken as an official language.
Sometimes English is used as a medium of instruction in elite class
Education fields. Pakistani students have to go in English speaking
countries to do (ESP) English for Specific Purpose courses.
2.In English as a Second-Language (ESL) situation:
This situation is also not applicable in Pakistan because
English is not used as second language in our country. All subjects are
taught in national language.
Consequently, English has gained indubitable status in Pakistani
occupational and proficient settings for each field. The medical
representatives in Pakistan have solid necessities and inspiration to learn
English language for various word related exercises.
As of now, there are no such English courses which improve the
English language fitness of Pakistanis and which is pointed toward
cooking their particular language needs.
Rahman states that Pakistan is a multi-lingual nation. However, the
language of intensity areas, government, media, schooling, corporate
area and so on are Urdu and English. The official language of Pakistan is
English and it has status of second language in Pakistan. In spite of the
way that Urdu is the public language of Pakistan, the English language
status is without a doubt high.
3.EAP in which certain subject are taught in English:
In Pakistan certain subject are additionally instructed in
English. English language is an obligatory course in all controls and is
educated at a tertiary level in Pakistan.
In Universities, English is a mode of guidance.
Pathan (2012) contends that students who don't master over English or
have helpless language aptitudes, their endurance at the course is
unimaginable. In this unique circumstance, the significance of English is
obvious on account of necessary subject at undergrad/graduate levels.
. Moreover, according to Mansoor (2005), there is a sad scenario that
students who first time get entrance to universities lack English skills
and she claimed that their weakness stays same because we recruit
untrained and inexperienced language teachers. Mostly teachers have
degrees in English literature that basically is problematic with students
learning English skills. In the same vein, Bughio and Gopang (2014)
have stated that teachers use the same traditional approaches for
teaching English language in classroom. The existing knowledge of
literature indicates that teachers at tertiary levels are not trained
professionally. However, keeping it into account, in 2007, HEC of
Pakistan took initiatives to introduce English language teaching reforms
(ELTR) for teachers. The purpose of the projects is to train teachers
freely in colleges and universities. With these language programs, a
hope was created for change in teaching approaches. Bughio and
Gopang (2014) also suggested that long term programs should be
introduced to ensure better results for quality of language teaching in
Pakistan. The school system mostly uses the national language to teach
all subjects. Thus students have to make the adjustment from studying
all subjects in their national language at school level to studying subjects
such as science, medicine and engineering in English at tertiary level.

4.EAP in which Subject are taught in national language:

This circumstance are applicabe in Pakistan becaues all the courses are
directed in public language. The mechanism of guidance is typically the
public language.EAP has regularly been alluded to as Technical English,
and the courses have zeroed in solely on reading. The classes are
educated in public language and this empowers the educator to lead
some nitty gritty conversation about the semantic highlights of the
content and the methods of deriving importance from a book in an
unfamiliar language. The responsibility if the instructors and their
inclusion in the composition of materials lead to high inspiration with
respect to the two educators and understudies.
