Teaching - learning methods Teaching / learning methods:

and activities  Interactive lectures;
 Practical work;
 Group work;
Activities to be used in teaching-learning methods
 Role-playing;
 Night calls;
Grading system A student’s knowledge and skills are assessed through 100 points grading
system.

Grading system allows:

a) Five types of positive assessment
(A) Excellent – 91 and over of maximum point;
(B) Very good – 81-90 of maximum point;
(C) Good – 71-80 of maximum point;
(D) Satisfactory – 61-70 of maximum point;

2
(E) Acceptable – 51-60 of maximum point.

b) Two types of negative assessment

(FX) Fail – 41-50 of maximum point, meaning that a student requires

additional work to pass the course and is given a chance to sit make-up exam
after independent work;

(F) Fail – 40 and less of maximum point, meaning that the work of a student is
not acceptable and he/she has to study the subject anew.

Credit is obtained if a student:

a) Has scored minimum required point of final exam;

b) Has scored minimum 51 points out of 100 points.

Make-up exam is scheduled with no less than 5 days interval after

announcement of the final exam results.

Assessments forms, methods Student’s knowledge assessment:

and criteria
Total assessment - 100 points
Midterm assessment- 60 points:
 Testing – 10 points
 Practical activities- 10
 Case study - 20 points
 Midterm – 20 points (mini-OSCE)

Final exam (OSCE) - 40 points

Description of evaluation criteria:

1. Quiz- 10 points
Quiz conducting 2 times a semester. Each quiz is graded with 5 points
and includes 10 MCQ and 5 short answer questions.
 Each MCQ question is assessed by 0.25 point
 Each Short Answer Questions is assessed by 0.5 point

2. Practical Activities - 10 points

Practical activities is held 2 times during semester, each activity
assess maximum 5 points:
 Performs manipulations fully and without errors – 5 points
 Performs manipulations partially and without errors – 4 points
 Performs manipulations with minor errors – 3 points
 Performs manipulations with some errors – 2 points
 Performs manipulations with errors – 1 point
 Cannot perform manipulations– 0 point

3
3. Case Study – 20 points

1. Reads the case and identifies the problem – 2 points;

2. Determines/analyzes the clinical investigations and provides evidence for
their use – 2 points;
3. Identifies the gaps in the knowledge/information and assertively seeks for the
additional information - 2 points,
4. Conducts/reviews differential diagnosis and supports with the evidence – 2
points;
5. Determines/proves the diagnosis – 2 points;
6. Determines the pathogenesis or/and epidemiology of the disease – 2 points;
7. Determines/reviews the plan of treatment, supports with the argumentation
–2 points;
8. Takes into consideration drug interaction, side effects – 2 points;
9. Evaluates the effectiveness of outcomes and actions, determines risks related
to the case – 2 points;
10. Determines valid guidelines related to the diseases and treatment – 2
points;

4. Midterm exam – Total 20 points

will be held in mini-OSCE format, consisting of 4 practical exams –total
20 point. The evaluation of each component at the stations is
determined by the checklists. Grades under each element of rubric are
determined according to the checklists developed for the specific
performance.
The criteria are:
 Done – Candidate has fulfilled OSCE criteria and has performed the
tasks completely and with confidence
 Partially done – A fair performance fulfillment of most OSCE criteria
 Not Done – Extremely poor performance, candidate has not performed
any of the OSCE criteria

5. Final exam - 40 points.

Final exam will be held in OSCE format. OSCE It is one of the most
effective methods to assess student’s theoretical and practical
capabilities. During the exam simulators/simulated
patient/standardized patient is being used, which permits observation
on student’s ability to use their clinical knowledge and clinical skills
while approaching the patient. OSCE consists of eight practical exams,
each assessed by checklist and by points which is mention there.
The criteria are:
 Done – Candidate has fulfilled OSCE criteria and has performed the
tasks completely and with confidence
 Partially done – A fair performance fulfillment of most OSCE criteria
 Not Done – Extremely poor performance, candidate has not
performed any of the OSCE criteria

4
Plagiarism/Cheating – Students are expected to be honest in their fulfilment
of assignments and in test-taking. Plagiarism and cheating are serious forms of
academic misconduct. Any student caught plagiarising or cheating on an
examination will receive zero mark. Written assignment check in Turnitin.
Behaviour – Students are expected to behave according to the rules/procedures
and ethical guidelines presented by the instructor and written in the University’s
code of ethics. They should not in any circumstances disturb the ongoing
lectures/seminars/presentations and should follow all the rules and procedures
established by the professor/instructor in the beginning of the course. The
usage of mobile phones and other sound equipment is forbidden during
lectures and test taking situations. In case student does not follow the above
mentioned rules/ethical guidelines and he/she intensely tries to spoil the
lecture, instructor is obliged to make the student leave the class and report the
outcomes to the dean for further evolution.

Administrative Notes  On the first lecture of the course, the lecturer is obliged to inform
the students on the work requirements of the program and the
strategies for the proceeding work.
 The student must:
 Carefully study the course syllabus.
 Comply with the requirements set forth in the syllabus (to
comply with homework, prepare for seminars and practical
work, testing, presentation, etc.).
 A student is admitted to the final exam if he/she has scored
minimum required points of mid-term evaluation (50% = 30
points of mid-term evaluation ).
 A student has a right to take make-up exam in case he/she has
scored 41-50 points out of final grade, or 51 points out of final
grade, however, could not score required minimum points of
final exam (50% +1 of final exam).
 The final exam is considered as passed if the student has at least
21 points (minimal competence limit).
