SUMMARY OF ANSWER
PROBLEM 1 PROBLEM 2 PROBLEM 3 PROBLEM 4

Fx= -150 lbs P= 489.8979 lbs YA= 2.665 ft. R= 50 lb downward

Fy= 360 lbs at 4 ft. to right of
Rx= 292.82 lbs b= 1.332 ft. above point 0
Px= 259.81 lbs point 0
Py= -150 lbs
a= 1.998 ft. to the
Tx= -306.42 lbs left of point 0
Ty= -257.16 lbs

Problem 1 Determine the X and Y component of each of the forces shown in the
figure.

Problem 2 The block shown in the figure is acted upon by its weight W=200ln, a
horizontal force Q=600lb and the pressure P exerted by the incline plane. The
resultant R of these forces is up and parallel to the incline thereby sliding the block
up it. Determine P and R. Hint: take one axis parallel to the incline.
Problem 3 In figure find the y coordinates of point A so that the 361lb force will
have a clockwise moment of 400ft-lb about O. Also determine the X and Y
intercepts of the action line of the force.

Problem 4 Determine the resultant of the four parallel forces acting on the rocker
arm in the figure.
