CAAP (Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines)


The CAAP is an authority that is responsible for regulating the aviation industry in the Philippines.
It is tasked to implement different policies to ensure safe, economical and efficient air
transportation. The responsibility of investigation also falls under their authority incase accidents
happen via their Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board. The CAAP are the ones whom
establishes the rules and regulations for inspection and registration of aircrafts and respective
facilities; law enforcement on air transportation; determining and prescribing fixes and charges on
the operation of air facilities and services; and operation and maintenance of air facilities, such as
airports, in compliance to the ICAO.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines was created under the Civil Aviation Authority
Act of 2008. On March 4, 2008, Republic Act No. 9497 renamed the “Air Transportation Office”
which is a line agency of the Department of Transportation and Communications to “Civil
Aviation Authority of the Philippines” headed by the Director General of Civil Aviation.

CAB (Civil Aeronautics Board)


The CAB is the agency of the government of the Philippines that is tasked to the regulation,
development and promotion of the economic aspect of air transportation and thus shall have the
authority to supervise, control and jurisdiction over economic air services such as carriers, cargo
and air freight forwarding and their corresponding equipment, facilities, property rights and their
franchise. Updating the existing policies or the creation of new ones are also under their authority
to ensure the efficiency of air commerce in the country.

According to R.A. No. 776, as amended by P.D. 1462, CAB is an attached agency of the
Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).

DOTr (Department of Transportation)


The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is the executive department of the government that is
focused on the different networks of transportation systems and services within the Philippines.
The department functions as the primary policy formulating entity of the government that is
responsible to the maintenance and development of viable, dependable and coordinated
transportation infrastructure systems in the air, land or sea for efficient and reliable transportation
services throughout the country.

As one of the first government agencies established under the Malolos Constitution on January 21,
1899, the DOTr plays a crucial role as the backbone for growth and enhancement of the country's
competitive edge by providing effective and efficient transportation infrastructure systems.
SAEP (Society of Aerospace Engineers of the Philippines)
The SAEP is one of the 14 accredited professional organizations in the Philippines thus is a
member of the Philippine Technological Council (PTC). Being one of the oldest professional
organizations in the country, SAEP has become a catalyst in the development of the aviation
industry. Its framework is to advance and promote Aeronautical Engineering in the Philippines
which is evident in their different activities such as job fairs that give job opportunities, and as
well as seminars and trainings for continuous professional development.
