Answer: By treating them like living beings not animals. We should also take
care of their interest and should educate them.

2. Why did the adivasis of the North-East migrate?

Answer: Around 1947, the states of the North east were a war zone.
Due to this, many Adivasi communities had to relocate of migrate.

Answer: Wood is the main product that we get from the forest. Raw wood can
be used in many forms. There are many usefulness of wood such as timber,
paper, power plant etc.

Answer: The real habitants of the land are called as the Adivasis. Adivasis
mostly live in forests, eat meat and fruits.

Answer: Treating a person, group or a concept as insignificant is called as
marginalised.

6. What is marginalisation?

Answer: Marginalization is the social process in which a group or classes of


people are considered less important as compared to some other groups. They
are considered to belong to a lower social status. The people who are subject
to marginalization are denied their basic fundamental rights that results in
bringing down their social and economic status.When one class of people is
grouped together as second class citizens, this is an example of
marginalization.

7. Why are the Adivasis becoming marginalised?

Answer: Adivasis had their habitat in the forest areas that were gradually
utilized for their resources which resulted in them being robbed of their natural
territory and resulted in them being deprived of their livelihood. This made them
marginalized and powerless. The Adivasis are portrayed as being alien, primal,
and backward people. This has caused marginalization of the Adivasi
community in modern India.

8. Why are the safeguards of Constitution necessary for minority


communities?

Answer: The Constitution’s safeguards are needed for the protection of the
minority communities from being marginalized and from being culturally
dominated by the majority groups in the society. If there are no such
safeguards, it could result in the minorities being subject to harassment and
neglect.

9. How would you explain about the Adivasis to your friend?

Answer: In response to the friend’s remarks on Adivasis, I would tell her that
they have an in-depth knowledge of the forests and were traditionally hunter-
gatherers and nomads who depended on forests for their livelihood. They
started to settle in one place by beginning the practice of agriculture.. They also
have their own style of communication which is believed to be as ancient as the
Sanskrit language.

10. Why was it not possible for Adivasis to merge with other people?

Answer: The Adivasis practice different culture and customs. People outside
the tribal community see them as a different kind of people. Due to different
culture and customs, illiteracy, it becomes difficult for both the communities to
accept each other.

Answer: Marginalisation results in having a low social status and not having
equal access to education and other resources enjoyed by the majority
communities.
