1. What do you mean by the term “Power over the ballot box”?
Ans: The term “power over the ballot box” is used for the adults of India who
participate in the voting process. These adults practice the power of making a
representative for the government. The process of voting and this practice to
chose the representative is called the “power over ballot box”.

2. Why do the street vendors lack behind the online sellers?


Ans: The online sellers used to be rich and they advertise their products through
various channels. The street vendor selling the same product could not sell the
items due to non-reachable resources. Even if the same product is being sold by
both of them, it is more likely that online sellers will sell more items than the
street vendors.

3. What could be the basic reason that the people of India are highly
unequal?
Ans: There could be many reasons for being Indian citizen’s unequal; some of
them are given below
• Poverty could be the greatest reason as poverty reduces many chances of life.
• Lack of resources- Although India is a huge country due to the large margin
of poor families the GDP of India is low in comparison to its population. So
the welfare schemes do not reach everyone.

Ans: When common people of any country fight for their rights and government
or its institutions, people of different perspectives and other communities try to
hinder their rights the process in achieving the goal or the rights by the strugglers
is called a struggle for equality.

D. Long Answer Questions: 5 Marks


1. Have you ever participated in a rally related to school safety? Explain.
Ans: Yes, I have participated in my school rally which was organized by our
school trust. It was done with the help of NCC cadets. We were told to walk
around the city with traffic rule hoardings in our hands. We were also told to take
pedestrians in place of the main road to avoid any ruckus and traffic. We were
told to give lessons on the traffic rules who were a subject of a traffic violation
on the streets or on the roads. It was fun doing this. We enjoyed it as well as learn
more about the traffic rules.

2. How can you make a social advertisement for equality? Write a story.
Ans: If I’ll have to make a social advertisement for equality, I’ll make it on the
‟Right to Education”. As a student of class 7, I heartily feel that everyone should
be educated at least till elementary level. As education brings many opportunities
in their life no one should be barred for their elementary schooling.
The advertisement will speak about a government primary school where children
of every community, class, and cast go for study and they pursue their core
fundamental right provided by the constitution of India.

3. How is the constitution useful in providing people their fundamental


rights?
Ans: The Constitution of India is a collection of documents written for the
welfare of the citizens of India. There is three pillars of Indian Democracy which
is Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary. These three pillars are bound to serve the
people of India. These three pillars are also a subject of the Constitution of India
which provides the Indian citizens its fundamental rights.

4. Why was the Tawa Matsya Sangh rallying?


Ans: Tawa Matsya Sangh rallied for their rights of fishing in their area. The
government constructed a damn in their area and many people had to relocate.
Some made it near the dam and started living there. But as soon as the dam was
built it gave rights for fishing to private contractors. This led to a huge protest.
People of Tawa Matsya Sangh started rallying and stopped the highways. The
protest was stretched all over the country to support the people of Tawa Matsya
Sangh. Later the government had to take back its decision.

5. What could be the main reasons of inequality in India?


Ans: India is a very big country with a population of approximately 130 million.
There are many differences in the country. The differences are on the basis of
language, caste, religion, geography, and culture. These people do not fit with
each other and misinterpretations take place. The daily life of every citizen is
different in many ways. These differences sometimes become a reason of ruckus
between them. To tackle these differences and to bring each and every people to
the table of equality there are various provisions in the constitution of India.
