INTRODUCTION:

I. These are what a book look like in 1900s. (Attention getter)


II. And this is what a book look like nowadays. (Attention getter)
III. In 2018, about 74.7% of internet users who have bought and download e-books
and read them offline while 25.4% of them read the books physically in Malaysia.
IV. Today, there are many of publisher who have publish their books in electronic
compare to physical books and they are not effect by the change that their have
made.
V. Though the ebooks bring more benefits to the publishers and users than the
physical books, where the changes bring the good impact to people who like to
read a book.
VI. As the data shown describe on how people choose ebook compare to physical
book, should, should libraries be replaced with unlimited access to e-books?

BODY:

I. Based on Harrod’s Librarians’ Glossary, 8 th Edition, library is a collection of


books and other literary material kept for reading, study and consultation. It also a
collection of films, photographs and other non-book materials where all of these
as well as printed and manuscript documents, may be provided in departments of
one large library or may be in collection restricted to one type of materials.

A. Based on statistics from the National Library of Malaysia, the rate of visitors
coming to the library in 2020 is January which is 31,588 people. (Analysis)
B. While for the lowest rate is in April and May where the number of visitors is
0. (Analysis)
C. Among the reasons library visitors are decreasing every day are:
i. Less attraction from the nearby library
ii. Prefer to read online
iii. High responsibility when borrowing a book and having to return it on
time
iv. Security is guaranteed when reading at home with available resources
v. Adequate reference access at homes such as the Internet and smart
devices

II. Emma Yates (2001) state that ebook is a text presented in a format which allows it
to be read on a computer or handheld device. Many titles which are available in
printed versions can be read as ebooks, including bestselling fiction, classics and
reference texts. (Descrption)
A. Ebooks are also used to make out-of-print work available, or to bypass print
altogether, as with new works by aspiring authors. Ebooks can consist simply
of the electronic text or may also contain extras, such as audio, video or
hyperlinks. (Description)
B. Based on the statistic from the Google Play Store, the rate of users that use the
education application in 2020 is approximately 240,000 users. (Analysis)
C. Besides, for books and references, the rate of users that download the books
and references for offline in 2020 is approximately 130,000 users. (Analysis)
D. The statistic shown that the total of users that use ebook for eduation and
references is 370,000 users. (Analysis)

CONCLUSION:

I. The libraries should change the way of their management, where beside the
physical books, they should provide the books in the library to digital books
(ebook). (Recommendation)
II. It is because some of the reader still like the old ways, which is reading physical
books because its more easier for them to read and doing the references at libraries
or home. (Description)
III. Also, some of the readers who preferred the ebook because of how it convenient
them, where it easier to read everywhere and every time., because all of the
ebooks they have can open in just one click to their technology such as
smartphone or computer.
IV. People nowadays love to bring all the things in the single thing but there are also
people who are appreciate the originality of the physical book where they can
touch, look the pages and bring it with their own. (Reinforce central idea)
V. The conclusion is the libraries can’t be be replaced with unlimited access to e-
books. (Summary)
