Kaizen means continuous improvement in an organization. The kaizen process actually a Japanese
business philosophy of continuous improving of work.

Kaizen comes from two Japanese words- kai means improvement and zen means good. This method
introduce that in an organization working force will enhancing all time and that will provide better
productivity. Its elements can be easily implemented in several departments such as management,
services, marketing, accounts, manufacturing, human resources and engineering.

Kaizen process require tiny improvement; according to the business this requirement can differ, like for
a shoe making company if the company provide separate glue for shoes to every worker then they can
reduce time and increase productivity but they are not providing the glue because they don’t have any
transfer tools. For worker kaizen methods make their activity easier and comfortable.

For any types of business weather it is a small company or large manufacturing organization or a
corporate farm the kaizen method will work but before using this there is a process, to apply kaizen
method business people need to understand the problem or how they can improve their working
methods, analyze the problem, carrying out the solution, examine the solution and if needed then adjust
and finally make the solution more standardize.

Companies that implement Kaizen are constantly defining, meeting, and redefining standards.

By seeking continuous improvement, a company’s bottom line is always being increased, employees are
becoming more productive, and customers are becoming more satisfied. A Figure given below:

Kaizen can operate at the level of an individual, or through Kaizen Groups or Quality Circles which are
groups specifically brought together to identify potential improvements. This approach would also be
compatible with Team working or Cell Production, as improvements could form an important part of the
team’s aims. The key aspect of KAIZEN is that it is an on-going, never-ending improvement process.

If a company can gather its important tools so specific way that will reduce time wasting and employee
can have more comfortable working place and that can lead the company to key efficiency.

The key characteristic of kaizen its a long process, logically pre-position the important tools for minimize
the wasting time is example of kaizen, its all about continuous developing, Introducing small additional
changes in a business in order to improve quality, doing changes in technical part, make program or
meeting for the employee participation, provide motivation that will help the worker to increase their
confidence.

The kaizen process is the idea to focuses on improving productivity by using unique tools, employee
participation. It is a school of thought which insists that change is the only way to progress. It
emphasizes on improvement of productivity by eliminating unnecessary hard work. To achieve
successful business requires participation from the top most level of management to the base level
workers. There is always room to make small improvements, challenge the status and tune processes
and practice on an everyday basis. This approach should be continuous.

The benefits of kaizen process is that it will mainly based on team working. This team working will go
through the process of kaizen which will increased the efficiency of time and resources. After the team
working and minimize the wasting time the employee will be satisfy and productivity will increased.

Most of the principles of kaizen are actually based on team working. Its most vital ingredients are to
make the organization productivity quality, effort, involvement of all employees, willingness to change,
and communication. Being observant plays a big role in seeing the benefits of kaizen in reality. Due to
flexible nature of kaizen, it can be easily applied in all kinds of organizations and they can do something
better.
