1. Real Feminine: a word that means something that is actually female
a. Examples: mother, sister, daughter, aunt, cow
2. Fake Feminine: words that are not actually female, but are referred to as ‘she’
regardless. There are three different categories of Fake Feminine:
a. Words ending in:
i. ﺓة (most common) ﻯى/ ﺁآء (not so common)
b. Broken plurals (human and non-‐human)
c. Feminine
because
the
Arabs
said
so
i. Body
parts
in
pairs
ii. Random
others
(as
depicted
in
story)
We will now discuss the third category: fake feminine because the Arabs said so. The Arabs say
that any body part that exists in pairs will be feminine; for example: ankles, elbows, knees,
eyes, hands, etc. Things like nose and head would not fall in this category. The other set of
words that the Arabs said must be feminine are a random set of words depicted below in story
format to make it easy to remember:
During a ﺣﺮْ ﺏب َ (war), a solder was daydreaming looking at the ﻧُﺠُﻮْ ﻡم (stars; broken plural) in the
َﺳ َﻤﺎء (sky) until the َﺷ ْﻤﺲ (sun) came up. When he snapped out of it, he realized he is the only
ﻧَ ْﻔﺲ (person) left on the battlefield surrounded by ﻧَﺎﺭر (fire), so he used a ﺩد َْﻟﻮ (bucket) full of
water to make a ﺳﺒِﻴﯿْﻞ َ (path) all the way to safer ﺃأَﺭرْ ﺽض (land). In the hot blowing ِﺭرﻳﯾْﺢ (wind), he
was desperately looking for a ﺑِ ْﺌﺮ (well) to draw water from. In his search he found an empty ﺩدَﺍاﺭر
(house) in which there was a َﻛﺄْﺱس (cup) full of ﺧ َﻤﺮ َ (wine). He is tempted despite his fear of َﺟﻬﮭَﻨﱠﻢ
(hellfire) to take a sip but wards off his temptation and uses his ﺼﻰ َ َﻋ (staff) to strike the drink.
