system shall be provided for the Electrical Rooms & communication Equipment
Rooms where sensitive equipment’s are installed.

1. INTRODUCTION

The VESDA detector has been specifically designed to provide all the benefits
of aspirating smoke detection, including very early warning, in single
environment small areas and where space is a premium. The VESDA combines
the well-proven detection technology with a modified aspirator design and
incorporates them into a compact enclosure.

The Detector is available in two versions, one that interfaces via relays only (RO)
and one that interfaces via relays. The VN version is compatible with the remote
Display Module, which allows the current status of the detector to be reported in
the most convenient location. The remote Display Module has 7 remote relays to
support any combination of signalling that may be demanded by the application.
The VN version allows several detectors to be linked together on thereby
allowing one to act as a reference detector for other VESDA detectors.

2. DESCRIPTION
The VLC is made up of two parts: the main enclosure and the front cover. The
main enclosure houses all the key components of the detector. All non-
serviceable items like the main processor board and detector chamber are
mounted away from the general access area, protecting them during the
installation and service process.

The front cover includes:

• 5 LEDs: Fire, Pre-Alarm/Alert, Fault, OK, Reset/Isolate

• Reset/Isolate Push Button (press to reset, press and hold to isolate)

BDP-MEP-ELV-00001- R0
Page|31
3. HOW IT WORKS
Air is continually drawn through a simple pipe network to a central detector by
a high efficiency aspirator.

Air entering the unit passes a flow sensor before a sample is passed through a
dual-stage dust filter (the majority of air is exhausted from the detector and back-
vented to the protected area)

The first stage removes dust and dirt from the air sample before it enters the
chamber for smoke detection. The second, ultra-fine stage provides a clean air
supply to be used inside the detection chamber to form clean air barriers, which
protect the optical surfaces from contamination.

The detection chamber uses a stable, highly efficient laser light source and
unique sensor configuration to achieve the optimum response to a wide range of
smoke types. When smoke passes through the detection chamber it creates light
scatter which is detected by the very sensitive sensor circuitry.

The status of the detector, all alarms, service and fault events, are monitored and
logged with time and date stamps. Status reporting can be transmitted via simple
relay connections or across the advanced VESDA communications network

BDP-MEP-ELV-00001- R0
Page|32
4. SYSTEM LAYOUT INSTALLTION

BDP-MEP-ELV-00001- R0
Page|33
The VLS draws air from all sectors in use. If the smoke level reaches the
Adaptive Scan Threshold, the VLS quickly scans each pipe to identify which
pipe is carrying smoke. If more than one pipe is transporting smoke, the sector
with the highest smoke concentration is designated as the First Alarm Sector
(FAS).

Once Fast Scan is completed and the FAS identified, the VLS continues to
closely monitor all four sectors (pipes) to monitor fire growth and maintain full
protection of the area.

There are four alarm levels (Alert, Action, Fire 1 and Fire 2) for each sector
(pipe) and the sensitivity for each alarm level can be set to ensure the optimum
alarm thresholds are applied for each sector.

5. DISPLAY UNIT

The display has a bar graph to indicate the overall smoke level, alarm threshold
and fault indication. The bar graph displays the individual sector smoke levels
during the scanning sequence. There is an extra LED to indicate that a First
Alarm Sector (FAS) has been identified and an extra function to the Silence
Button to allow for Manual Scan to be initiated. The display module can be
mounted into the front cover or remotely into a 19in sub rack or a remote box.

6. RELAY INTGRATION.

The VLS detector can be fitted with a programmable 7 or 12 relay Termination

card. Relays may be mounted in a remote box or in a 19in sub rack.

7. VSCnet

The status of the detector, and all alarm, service and fault events, are transmitted
to displays and external systems viaVESDA’s fault tolerant communications
protocol. The loop provides a robust bi-directional communication network

between devices, even allowing continued operation during single point wiring
failures. It also provides system programming from a single location and forms
the basis of the modular nature of the VESDA system.

WATER LEKAGE SYSTEM

Protecting a facility from damaging water leaks is an important part of any disaster mitigation
plan. Systems pairs superior leak detection technology with an easy-to-use interface. This
integration helps users to quickly and efficiently establish a leak detection system that
reliably protects valuable assets

Water leak detection System shall be designed to protect the Air-conditioned premises and
to alert the personnel about the leak in the AC systems. The system shall be capable of
interfacing to Water leak detection sensors, condensation sensors & I/O modules. Events
should be clearly reported on LCD/LED display with full English language description of
the nature of the fault in the panel. The successful bidder shall make detailed working
drawings and coordinate them with other agencies at site. Water Leak Detection systems
shall be integrated with BMS.

1. TECHNOLOGY
The product is designed using High Speed Microprocessor based proprietary design and uses
12V, 50Hz AC as sensing voltage for sensing potential leaks.

2. TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANTAGE OVER DESIGN

Water leak detection systems available in the market, uses a 12V / 24V DC supply for sensing
leaks. When DC excitation is used in the sensing cables, they form electrolysis during the
presence of water and forms corrosion around the sensing cables. This reduces the sensitivity
over a period to virtually zero.

However, when AC is used as a sensing voltage, it does not corrode or degrade due to the
alternating nature of the current and hence maintains the sensitivity of the sensing cables
throughout its life time.

Systems designed the WLD with the end-user in mind. All basic device functionality is
available from the LCD screen — configure, monitor, locate, and acknowledge leaks from
the front panel of the WLD2400. This allows the WLD2400 to be used as a stand-alone
device without sacrificing any leak detection or alarm notification functionality.

Once the WLD is connected to a network via RS485 to Ethernet gateway, a robust MODBUS
interface expands the capabilities of the unit. Using any BMS interactive facility mapping
tool, one can create an interactive overlay that displays on top of an uploaded floor map
image. When a leak is detected, The WLD displays its zone name on the map, making leak
location quick and easy.

BDP-MEP-ELV-00001- R0
Page|39
The WLD is ideal for applications that require a stand-alone system that can also be

RODENT REPELLENT SYSTEM
1. DESIGN INTENT
The rodent repellent system shall be installed on the entire floor in all voids. The objective is
to keep the rodents away from the floor by generating very high frequency sound waves (above
20 kHz) which are not legible to human ear but irritates rodents. The objective is to protect all
the cables under floor, above ceiling & room void from damage caused by rodents
2. INTRODUCTION
Rodents and other creeping pests are a nuisance for the data centres. They may chew away at
the data, voice or even power cables causing a major downtime. The entry of Rodents and
other unwanted pests shall be controlled using non-chemical, nontoxic devices. The entire
facility, including under access floor void and above false ceiling void should be protected
from rodents. It is required to install a Digital Rodent Repellent System.
However periodic pest control can be done once in 3 months as a contingency measure to
effectively fight the pest menace. Digital Rodent Repellent System comprise of high frequency
generator and Transducers. The transducers attached to it get these signals and convert it into
high frequency sound waves in the range of 20 khz to 60 khz. These frequencies are well above
the hearing range of humans, the sound waves pond the ear drum of rodent much like a loud
siren.
The Generator uses a variable high frequency ultrasound so that rodents do not get accustomed,
the rats will leave the area being protected immediately or it will take as long as four to six
weeks before there is a significant reduction in infestation. The transducers work silently,
human can’t hear them so there is no discomfort. Human can’t hear ultrasound but for rodent
its like loud police blasting all 24/7. It will drive them crazy. They would start avoiding arrears
protected by Ultrasound Rodent Repellent System.

VIDEO SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
1. INTRODUCTION
The implementation of a video surveillance system is often necessary for security and safety needs,
as well as for other purposes, including legal and regulatory compliance. IP video retention terms
have shown a steady increase from months to years.
The video surveillance market is rapidly deploying new technologies in both hardware and
application software, providing useful features and benefits to traditional and non-traditional
customers
The widest choice in network hardware devices, with system components such as servers, digital
cameras, encoders and network storage. A key element of deploying an IP video surveillance
system is a reliable and flexible data storage solution.
As a solution provider integrates its family of storage archiving products within the open platform
architecture.
Users are no longer bound to block-based storage because Spectra provides both file and object-
based storage, allowing IT and security managers to reduce costs and leverage unlimited options
to manage the long-term retention of IP video assets.

BDP-MEP-ELV-00001- R0
Page|55
2. SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
In order to be able to scale to the cameras across multiple sites, the VMS consists of
several components that handle specific tasks. All components can be installed on the
same server if the server is able to handle the combined load, or the components can be
installed on separate dedicated servers to scale and distribute the load.
In a geographically distributed VMS system where users access video locally on each of
the sites, it is recommended to design the system using Federated Architecture.

BDP-MEP-ELV-00001- R0
Page|56
3. SYSTEM MODULES

The System modular nature of Corporate, especially when combined

Interconnect, offers great flexibility when designing large-scale VMS
systems.

Corporate can run 100,000 or more cameras in a large-scale VMS system

deployment, regardless of whether the system is located on a single site or
distributed across multiple sites and managed by one or more authorities.

BDP-MEP-ELV-00001- R0
Page|57
4. SERVER COMPONENTS
(i) MANAGEMENT SERVER

The management server is the central component of the VMS and is

responsible for handling the system configuration, distributing
configuration to other system components, such as recording servers, and
for facilitating user authentication.
The configuration data is stored in a standard Microsoft SQL server installed
either on the management server itself or on a separate dedicated server.

(ii) FAILOVER MANAGEMENT SERVER

Failover support on the management server is achieved by installing the

management server in a Microsoft Windows Cluster. The cluster will then
ensure that another server takes over the management server function,
should the first server fail.

(iii) RECORDING SERVER

The recording server is responsible for all devices (cameras, video and
audio encoders, input/output (I/O) modules, metadata sources, etc.)
communication, recording and event handling, for example:
• Retrieve video, audio, metadata and I/O event streams from the
devices
• Provide access to live and recorded video, audio and metadata
• Trigger system and video events on device failures, events, etc.
• Perform motion detection and generate Smart Search metadata
Furthermore, the recording server is responsible for communicating with
other products when using the Interconnect technology.

(iv) FAILOVER RECORDING SERVER

The failover recording server is responsible for taking over the recording
task should a recording server fail.

The failover recording server can operate in two modes:

• Cold-standby for monitoring multiple recording servers
• Hot-standby for monitoring a single recording server

BDP-MEP-ELV-00001- R0
Page|58
(v) EVENT SERVER

The event server handles various tasks related to events, alarms, maps
and third-party integrations via the Integration Platform Software
Development Kit (MIP SDK).
All data handled by the event server, such as alarms, maps and event logs,
are stored in the same SQL server the management server uses.

(vi) FAILOVER EVENT SERVER

Failover support on the event server is achieved by installing the event

server in a Microsoft Windows Cluster. The cluster will then ensure that
another server takes over the event server function should the first
server fail.

(vii) LOG SERVER

The log server is responsible for storing all log messages for the entire
system. The log server uses the same SQL server as the management
server and is typically installed on the same server as the management
server but can be installed on a separate server if the management or log
server performance needs to be increased.

(viii) SQL SERVER

The management server, event server and log server use an SQL server
to store configuration, alarms, events and log messages, etc.
For larger systems Standard or Enterprise edition on a dedicated server,
because these editions can handle larger databases and offer backup
functionality.
As with all other IT systems it is important to configure scheduled backup
of the database so that configuration is not lost in case of failures.

BDP-MEP-ELV-00001- R0
Page|59
5. CLIENT COMPONENTS

(i) MANAGEMENT CLIENT

The Management Client is the administration interface for all parts of the
VMS. The VMS is designed for large-scale operation and the Management
Client is thus designed to be run remotely from the administrator’s
computer.

The Management Client has a Site Navigation where nodes for various parts
or functions of the system can be selected, for instance cameras, as shown
on the above screenshot.
Selecting a node will show the settings for this node, typically in a second
tree structure because there often are more sub items that can be
managed.

When an item is selected the settings are displayed in the properties dialog
shown in the right side of the client Items can have many settings, and if
so the different settings are grouped on different tabs.

(ii) SMART CLIENT

The Smart Client is the main client for the VMS offering a full set of
advanced features. It is designed for day-to-day use by dedicated
operators.
The Smart Client is designed to be run remotely on the operator’s computer
and supports multi-screen use in full-screen mode as shown below, or as
floating windows where the windows can be resized and moved freely.

Furthermore, the Smart Client has tabs dedicated to different tasks: live
monitoring, playback and investigation, Sequence Explorer for
investigation, alarms for alarm management and system monitor for
monitoring the state of the system servers, cameras, storage, etc. Add-on
products and third-party integrations can add additional tabs providing a
dedicated user interface for their functions.

BDP-MEP-ELV-00001- R0
Page|60
6. SMART WALL

Smart Wall is designed for control centers to display live video from select
cameras on one or more video wall displays.
The cameras to display can be selected manually by the operators using
the XProtect Smart Client, via the VMS’ rule system on events and/or time
schedule, or via MIP SDK integrations.

7. SOFTWARE MANAGER

The Software Manager is a tool that from a central point can be used to
remotely install and upgrade recording servers, recording server device
packs and Smart Clients on servers or PCs in the network.

For larger installations the tool makes it easy and fast to upgrade the
components that are installed remotely and in many places; namely the
recording servers and their device packs as well as all the client PCs.

VMS design: In addition to the system designs presented in the below

guide, it is of course possible to design the VMS in other customized ways
to suit specific cases as well as to use specialized or high-performance
equipment and technologies like virtualization, hardware redundancy, etc.

Number of cameras per recording serves: The guide and the designs
do not consider the number of cameras you can run per recording server
but reflect a location (physical or in the network) of the recording server.

This means that the recording server symbol in the below designs should
not be taken literally as one single recording server but more as an
indication of the recording server functionality in the location, which then
could be covered by one or more recording servers.

Server specifications: The Larger VMS projects or projects with more

specialized requirements than the ones covered in the below design guide,
In a physically distributed VMS system, where there is a need for accessing
the video directly by users on remote sites and where the network
connections between the central and remote sites are unstable or
intermittent, or the sites are not part of the same Microsoft Windows
domain, it is recommended to design the overall system using Interconnect.

The using voice over IP (VoIP) software running on personal computers (PCs). As
the network is currently configured, the traffic associated with VoIP calls is no
tprioritised over other data traffic. Having incoming calls that do not establish a
session with the intended called is not acceptable for a customer service
department, hence there is a need for a better network configuration. Since
customer support has to be available every weekday the downtime of the network
has to be as low as possible during the normal operating hours (09:00 to 16:00 on
weekdays).

The underlying network has to operate correctly and a plan for dealing with every
(expected) eventuality is necessary. This thesis project started by analysing the
network and the services that are used today, determined what parts were worth
keeping and what parts of the network infrastructure need to be changed, and then
documented how the new office should be set up and how each of the network
attached devices and the network infrastructure should be configured.

A backbone or core network is a part of a computer network which interconnects

networks, providing a path for the exchange of information between
different LANs or subnetworks. A backbone can tie together diverse networks in the
same building, in different buildings in a campus environment, or over wide areas.
Normally, the backbone's capacity is greater than the networks connected to it.

A large corporation that has many locations may have a backbone network that ties
all of the locations together, for example, if a server cluster needs to be accessed
by different departments of a company that are located at different geographical
locations. The pieces of the network connections (for example: Ethernet, wireless)
that bring these departments together is often mentioned as network
backbone. Network congestion is often taken into consideration while designing
backbones.

BDP-MEP-ELV-00001- R0
Page|68
Core networks typically provided the following functionality, but not limited to:

1. Aggregation: The highest level of aggregation in a service provider network.

The next level in the hierarchy under the core nodes is the distribution
networks and then the edge networks. Customer-premises equipment (CPE)
do not normally connect to the core networks of a large service provider.
2. Authentication: The function to decide whether the user requesting a service
from the telecom network is authorized to do so within this network or not.
3. Call Control/Switching: call control or switching functionality decides the future
course of call based on the call signaling processing. E.g. switching
functionality may decide based on the "called number" that the call be routed
towards a subscriber within this operator's network or with number
portability more prevalent to another operator's network.
4. Charging: This functionality of the collation and processing of charging data
generated by various network nodes. Two common types of charging
mechanisms found in present-day networks are prepaid charging and postpaid
charging. See Automatic Message Accounting
5. Service Invocation: Core network performs the task of service invocation for its
subscribers. Service invocation may happen based on some explicit action
(e.g. call transfer) by user or implicitly (call waiting). It's important to note
however that service "execution" may or may not be a core network
functionality as third party network/nodes may take part in actual service
execution.
6. Gateways: Gateways shall be present in the core network to access other
networks. Gateway functionality is dependent on the type of network it
interfaces with.
Physically, one or more of these logical functionalities may simultaneously
exist in a given core network node.
Besides above-mentioned functionalities, the following also formed part of a
telecommunications core network:

BDP-MEP-ELV-00001- R0
Page|69
4. OPERATION AND MAINTANACE

Operations & Maintenance center or Operations Support Systems to configure and

provision the core network nodes. Number of subscribers, peak hour call rate, nature
of services, geographical preferences are some of the factors which impact the
configuration.

Network statistics collection (Performance Management), alarm monitoring (Fault

Management) and logging of various network nodes actions (Event Management)
also happens in the O&M center. These stats, alarms and traces form important tools
for a network operator to monitor the network health and performance and improvise
on the same.

Subscriber Database: Core network also hosts the subscriber’s database (e.g. HLR
in GSM systems). Subscriber database is accessed by core network nodes for
functions like authentication, profiling, service invocation etc.
A distributed backbone is a backbone network that consists of a number of
connectivity devices connected to a series of central connectivity devices, such as
hubs, switches, or routers, in a hierarchy. This kind of topology allows for simple
expansion and limited capital outlay for growth, because more layers of devices can
be added to existing layers. In a distributed backbone network, all of the devices that
access the backbone share the transmission media, as every device connected to
this network is sent all transmissions placed on that network.

Distributed backbones, in all practicality, are in use by all large-scale networks.

Applications in enterprise-wide scenarios confined to a single building are also
practical, as certain connectivity devices can be assigned to certain floors or
departments. Each floor or department possesses a LAN and a wiring closet with that
workgroup's main hub or router connected to a bus-style network using backbone
cabling. Another advantage of using a distributed backbone is the ability for network
administrator to segregate workgroups for ease of management.

There is the possibility of single points of failure, referring to connectivity devices high
in the series hierarchy. The distributed backbone must be designed to separate
network traffic circulating on each individual LAN from the backbone network traffic
by using access devices such as routers and bridges.

users to easily migrate from one card technology to another or different users to possess
different smart cards and utomatic detection of controller(s) on the network
• Synchronization option to update any new controller on the network with the current
system configuration defining of controller outputs
• Mapping of general purpose controller inputs to the controller output (required for CCTV
camera integration, fire integration, emergency exit integration)

BDP-MEP-ELV-00001- R0
Page|77
Physical and logical access zones on floor plans and facility drawings uploaded. The feature lets
security and access control administrators draw regular and irregular closed shapes on these
plans to demarcate an Access Zone (AZ) as seen on their interface.

Users to drag and drop control icons corresponding to Alarms, Inputs, Doors, Locks, Personnel
count corresponding to a logical access zone.
Users to see where exactly on a floor plan a security incident has occurred. For example, the door
would turn red from green when a door opens. In case the door has been held open for a time
longer than permitted (security incident), the alarm icon would change and blink and the screen
would beep to alert security personnel.

The alarm management is the most important functionality in the access control system as it
helps in ensuring that each alarm message arising either out of a security incident or hardware
malfunctioning is handled in a prescribed manner. Well configured & managed Alarm
Management system ensures risk mitigation and maintains the system efficacy.
