LEARNING PLAN

Unit Topic: The Philippine Environment

Content Standard: Demonstrate an understanding of the relation of geographical location of the


Philippines to its environment

Performance Standard: Analyze the advantage of the location of the Philippines in relation to climate,
weather, and seasons

Learning Competencies:
demonstrate how places on Earth (e.g. regions in the Philippines) may be located using a coordinate
system;
describe the location of the Philippines with respect to the continents and oceans of the world;
relate the geographical locations of the Philippines to the availability of its natural resources

Transfer Goal: Students on their own in the long run will be able to create a promotional material (vlog, tarpaulin,
and brochure) that analyses the advantages of the Philippines geographical locations in terms of weather conditions
and natural resources.

Essential question(s): Why climates, weather, and seasons of an area in the Philippines different?

Enduring Understanding: Climate, weather and season of an area in the Philippine will be determined
according to its geographical location.

STAGES ACTIVITIES
The teacher will be conducting a pre-test
Focus Question: Have you ever wondered why the Philippines have
EXPLORE different weather conditions, seasons, climate and natural resources
compared to the other countries?
ACTIVITY I. The students will be answering the INITIAL part in the IRF chart
about the Philippine Environment
ACTIVITY II : Short video presentation about locating places on Earth(e.g.
Philippine regions) using latitude and longitude
The teacher will be asking process questions to the students.
Process Questions:
1. What is latitude?
2. What is longitude?
3. How can we used latitude and longitude in locating places on
FIRM UP
Earth(e.g. Philippine regions)
4. What region in the Philippines has a latitude of 30 degrees North and
45 degrees East?
ACTIVITY III. FRAY MODEL
The students must complete the Fray model about the Philippine
Environment (characteristics, definition, examples of natural
resources and non-example of natural resources in the Philippines)

The students will be grouped into 5
They will be given 3 articles about the different regions in the
Philippines with different weather conditions and natural resources

The students will be shown a Campaign Ad about the different regions
in Philippines with their weather conditions and natural resources

The students must share their experiences about the picture they
have in some places in the Philippines.
ACTIVITY VIII :Research Paper
TRANSFER They must choose 3 best places in the Philippines that have the
unique topographic location and research about their climate,
weather conditions and their natural resources
Re-visit the IRF Chart : Answer the final column
PERFORMANCE TASK: Making of Promotional Material ( vlog, brochure,
tarpaulin)
Students on their own in the long run will be able to create a promotional
material (vlog, tarpaulin, and brochure) that analyses the advantages of the
Philippines geographical locations in terms of weather conditions and natural
resources.
ACTIVITY IX: SELF-ASSESSMENT
The students must answer the question: What’s your confusing point
in the lesson?
