PE MENTAL HEALTH AND PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT REFLECTION PAPER

On December 2, 2020, DepEd officials from Kabankalan City facilitated a webinar about
Mental Health and Psychosocial Support with the goal to promote mental health and
psychosocial well-being of the learners amidst COVID-19, to equip learners with relevant
knowledge, effective competencies and purposeful values towards developing mental resilience
and lastly, to engage them in interactive and inspiring activities that would instill in them values
necessary for this situation and beyond.

In the first part of the webinar, they defined what mental health is and why it is
important. Mental health is the state of our well-being that is very important at every stage of
life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. It includes our
emotional, psychological, and social well-being and affects how we think, feel, and act. At our
current time, our mental health has been greatly affected because of the covid-19 pandemic. It
brought us uncertainties, loss, grief, and presents an unprecedented challenge to many aspects of
human life.

We, as students, are also included to those who have been greatly affected. Some of us
struggled to do things we usually do especially now that we have classes to attend and
schoolworks to finish. So it is enlightening that DepEd shed light about how we can develop
mental resilience such as talking to our loved ones, our friends, and to even approach them,
teachers and officials, if we ever need help because now, in the current state of the world, we
only have each other.

The fact that we are amid an unprecedented public health crisis, yet we also have an
extraordinary opportunity to come together within our families and our communities to improve
the understanding of mental health proves how we, Filipinos, are ready to help each other in
ways possible.
