Introduction

Introduce students to unit  wellness choices.


3 min  What are some choices we make about who we are (ex. what we eat, if we’re
active, etc.)? What about choices we don’t get to control (ex. our genetics)?

Activity 1: Listing Personal Characteristics

We are all unique – we have different personality characteristics, different physical traits table of traits to
etc. We are different for a number of reasons: attach to the back
10 min 1. Hereditary (genetics - ex. hair colour, eye colour) of drawings.
2. Environmental (ex. freckled from the sun)
3. Personal choice (ex. hair length, pierced ears)

Let’s think about the students at Lakeview and see what different characteristics we can
list.

Activity 2: LEGO Self-Portrait

Load YouTube drawing tutorial.


*will finish on Jan
40 min Students will complete a self-portrait in “LEGO” style. Students will need to include 2 26th.
genetic characteristics, 2 environmental characteristics and 1 personal choice
characteristic on their portrait.

Students can use crayons, coloured pencils or markers to colour.
