ACTION PLAN PROPOSAL

December 2020 Community Medicine Clerks

The presenter Clerk Lim discussed their proposed action plan for the month of December 2020.
Before making a proposal action plan they identified the problems encountered by the community
where they will implement their program. The problems identified were Unemployment, Diabetes,
Hypertension, Malnutrition, Under utilization of health programs, Lack of awareness and Utilization of
top 10 medicinal plants, Non-practice of proper waste segregation and disposal, Improper water storage
and No pest control measure. The group focused on the 4 identified problems: Improper water storage,
malnutrition in children ages 0-4 years old, and utilization of vaccination program of the barangay health
center. The clerks goal for this action plan/ program were to increase proper storage of water to 75%, to
decrease the number of malnourished children ages 0-4 years old by 50% in Zone 3 and Zone 4 barangay
Sto. Domingo, Biñan City, Laguna by June 2022, and to increase utilization of vaccination program by
100% of the barangay health center by June 2022. With these objectives the group focused on the
malnutrition problem of the residents of their chosen barangay.

This presentation help me realized that malnutrition is still a major problem in our setting,
regardless of the government programs to eradicate or to decrease malnutrition to Filipino children. As
a physician, we should advocate programs that will benefit our fellow Filipino and for the betterment of
our country. We should also be passionate with what our profession oath to do in pursuit of health and
wellness. After listening to Clerk Lim presentation, I will be able to relate what I’ve learned with this
presentation to my future practice as a physician.
